Due to the improved conditions surrounding our Otay Mesa detention facilities, jail visits will resume on Sunday, January 26 at 8:00 a.m.
This includes the following Sheriff's facilities:

The current status of our Otay Mesa Detention Facilities is to shelter in place. There is an evacuation plan in place if this becomes necessary. There is currently no danger to these facilities related to the Border 2 Fire.

Out of an abundance of caution, the San Diego County Sheriff's Office is temporarily suspending all visits to county jails in the Otay Mesa area.
Due to the Border 2 Fire, the following Sheriff's facilities will be affected:

The fire has been mapped at 5389.4 acres by CAL FIRE Intel aircraft. The perimeter can be viewed by toggling on the Active Fire Perimeters layer on the Watch Duty map.
Please note that fire perimeters indicate the general burn area but do not detail the measures being taken to protect buildings and homes. Even if a building or home is within the marked fire perimeter, it doesn’t necessarily mean it has been damaged or destroyed. These maps are preliminary and may be updated.

Zone SDC-2389 has been divided into two separate zones. Zone SDC-2389-A is now under an evacuation order, while Zone SDC-2389-B remains under an evacuation warning.
This change is reflected on the Watch Duty Map or the Genasys Protect Site.
