Even with all the tired, I love the early-morning T ride in on parade day. I love how each stop of the Green Line adds a few more parade-goers, station by station, as we get closer to Boston. A Pride flag here, a trans patch there, a dusting of sparkles, color, brightness.
On Saturday's ride in, we ended up chatting briefly with a young woman in a "Kiss More Girls" t-shirt. She was visiting Boston on a summer internship away from her home and college and family in Florida. She was really feeling the difference between Florida and Massachusetts. "I'm a gay woman and I can...", she gestured around at the Pride-goers on the train, at herself, at her shirt, "...up here."
And then she cried. Just a bit.
We all went our own ways in Boston, but I keep thinking about her. May she find her way to a place where she can always (gestures around) and Kiss More Girls.

Coming off of an extremely, extremely full weekend. Dyke March. The Trans Memorial. Eating fire. The love, the tears, the caring, .... the fear nibbling around the edges.
I haven't really processed everything yet, but I did want to tell you about someone I met on the T Saturday, heading into the Boston Pride parade.
I'm not really a crowds and parades person. I'm kind of introverted, can be painfully shy, and am a perfect example of Hannah Gadsby's "Quiet Gay" - you'll find me with a book and a cup of tea in the queer-friendly bakery, not at the dance party.
But still, every year my partner and I march in the Trans Memorial section of the big Boston parade. It's important to me to be there, to carry a sign with a name, and bear witness to who we've lost, despite the lack of sleep after the wonderful Dyke March the night before.

I've seen variations of this one, so thought I'd post this as well.
Oh, BTW, there were so many vendor tents at #BostonPride today! And it was both nice to see so many of them based around healthcare for LGBTQ people, but also sad that such a thing is necessary.
#BostonPride #NoKings So many beautiful people today of every description on the Common. Gay, straight, bi, ace, old, young, large, small, goth, preppy, furry, trans, cis, NB, and everything in between. So many signs of protest, but also of unity and peace and love.
You're beautiful, every one of you.
my favorite sign so far
#Boston showed UP!
#bostonpride #nokings apparently juggalos also want to fight fascism.
#bostonpride #nokings
I do not understand this, there is someone here cosplaying as an Imperial officer... And carrying a pride flag.

So fat no stingray hits. Rayhunter has been green so far.
If you are on the common and want a rayhunter find the person in the lime green jacket with a backpack that says Punch Nazis.
#bostonpride #nokings there is a tiny Wario here. 😄
#Boston is ELECTRIC right now, even in the pouring rain.
My calendar says it is Flag Day. How appropriate 😛

June 14th is a national day of protests across the country, .... The goal is to celebrate Pride, not disrupt it.

My housemate's UU church organized a very small protest yesterday. They plan to do this every Wednesday at 5 PM for an hour, perhaps with different themes. Don't know if I'm going to go every week. There were about 25 people there.
Yesterday's theme was immigrants. I brought a Hands Off sign.
Mostly people honked in a supportive way. There was one pedestrian who started yelling about Laken Riley, which I'd not heard of. So we got our phones and looked it up, and apparently this person was murdered by an undocumented immigrant, and now there's a whole congressional act about detaining undocumented immigrants if they have been charged with any type of minor crime. I'm like, you're more likely to be murdered by a good old-fashioned white boy, but statistics don't make good press.
There is going to be some big nationwide thing on June 14 protesting the whole Trump making himself out to be a king thing, and it turns out it's going to coincide with Boston Pride. Should be fun!
