Starting a new #Cairn play by post game over on the "Rolling Languages" discord.
I thought about proposing a game of #Vaarn but Cairn is just perfect for #PbP in my humble opinion for 3 reasons:
- the setting is more grounded and easier to "sell" than something as weird as Vaarn
- no to hit rolls and only 1 damage die per target means combat is much easier to handle in this mode
- kettlewright, the free online app to manage characters, and parties is just super neat

I've always thought Cairn should be a bit bigger of a game than it is. It's successful in #OSR game standards, but should really be a little more well-known.

Turnout was a bit low, but fun was had.

I made it to the top. But wow, that ending made me think. Plenty of feelings here.

What a game. Really. Oof.

Btw: at some point I disabled hunger & thirst in the accessibility settings, as having to constantly search for food and water got in the way for me to enjoy the game (who comes to such a climb that badly prepared?! Looking at you, Aava!). I'm glad I had this option - and I intend to give it another run in full survival mode.
