It’s the 32nd anniversary of one of the greatest Mockumentaries of all time: Nelson George’s #CB4. A masterwork of comedic commentary on #HipHop* #music’s evolution, especially in its golden era peak of the early 90s.

So you know what that means.

This popped up in my YouTube feed tonight, which I had no choice but to repost because it makes me laugh so much every time I see it. It's from #ChrisRock's brilliant and criminally underrated #CB4, which is essentially "This Is Spinal Tap" but concerning '90s gangster rap. Here, an Eazy-E-type gangster rapper gets obsessed with '90s Afrocentrism, and we're watching the first video from his newly "Africa Proud" hiphop album.

Terrific, funny cast. And some badass beats. But much like the culture it parodies, #CB4 is more flash than substance. It has a story, sure, but it's not exactly what I would describe as tight. But it's there, and given the nature of the film it's more than enough to hang a parody of gangster rap culture on.

Fun stuff.
