She is been trained (by me, I'm also a dog trainer) to not go inside the kitchen (very small one lots of dangers) So she waits at the door (picture). She also don't touch any food left alone on the table, comes when called, get inside a crate, and give me lots of LOVE.
You can train a Cat. Get a cliker, a bunch of treats and pacience, lots of it.

Harness training is progressing. She’s still not entirely happy about it, but at least it’s not like she’s had a paralyze spell cast on her when the harness is on. The plan is to only let her out in a harness eventually. Currently she’s still about 50% an outdoor cat. Maybe it’ll get easier once she’s a bit older and not constantly on the move chasing stuff.
I had a short break with Asher & did more leash training with him.
Been on OT since yesterday & working til 10pm tonight. Back to work after this quickie post.

I have a happy cat.
He likes to cuddle me, and he likes to knead while he does it. Unfortunately, he never worked out how not to claw me in the process. This was distressing for both of us, me by the injury and him by my yelps of pain. It reduced our enjoyment of cuddle time.
So I got him used to having my fuzzy robe under his paws when he kneaded on my chest. It gave me some padding so I wasn’t being shredded. Slowly (over the course of a few weeks) I got him used to the robe being a bit further from the middle of my chest, until now he’s content to knead the robe while he’s sitting beside me. In fact, he won’t start kneading until he’s got the fuzzy robe.

My cat's getting better at jumping without needing finger prompts, but still goes around my arm if I don't have a barrier or under my arm if I hold the hoop too high. This whole session was 5 minutes, but it was a successful five minutes with several good jumps!

“Leave it alone!” we ask, but we might not be giving them a good enough reason.
Cats want to be cooperative. But they need a good reason to NOT do something.
That's where the communication comes in. If we have an old version of what they want to play with, give it to them.

Cats often love houseplants. Which is not always a good thing for any of us.
As a Cat Appreciator, one of the few sacrifices I’ve made was having to give up a variety of houseplants. The ones that are poisonous to cats, like all the bulbs, from tulips to onion, which are toxic to cats.
We need to err on the side of caution.

I've been trying to teach my cat how to jump on command, because it gives him something to expend energy on when I can't walk him. And this cat can jump pretty high. But ask him to jump on command? He c l i m b s s l o w l y.
Then he learns "lie down" (on his front) in like ten minutes.
