This is a fascinating conversation ( to me as a US fan). I joined the discussion group to see where it goes and help out where I'm able.

I've been a fan of SF/F/H since I've been able to consume any media. I avidly watched #DoctorWho in 405-line B&W when he was an old man with white hair. Currently I'm sad she's no longer a young, blonde woman.
#Conrunning – I've done some of that, been involved in getting a local con going again as well as helping with Eastercons and (in a tiny way) Worldcons. Don't know how much I'm going to be able to do going forward, which makes me sad.

Between 2009 and 2017, I founded and ran ConBravo!, a convention oriented towards pan-geek media like YouTube, anime, and gaming. And lemme tell ya: It was not a good time.
This is a thread about why you shouldn't run a convention, even if you really want to, and perhaps how to approach one if you absolutely must.
