Last year was to make landfall near our area, but lost power and eventually didn't even reach Mumbai.

doesn't seem in a mood to stop so far. Hopefully it gets weaker before landfall or will be utter chaos if this is it NOT over land.

seems much worse than last year's . The worst of the winds haven't even hit Mumbai yet and people reporting insanely strong wind. Hope it loses some power brushing along the coast before landfall or Gujarat will be screwed.

No clear updates from the ground like last time - power cuts and internet failures?

This thing is moving so slow that it seems like Goa, Ratnagiri etc would be getting properly hammered. had moved past much faster IMO. Shorter duration each place.

Is it just me or is much slower than ?

Last year we be like it is here, then here, then here. This one is taking its own time. Not sure if this is good or bad.

Faster moving = less damage in one place?

Haven't even told maid about cyclone yet. Her home in Konkan got destroyed in last year. Couldn't rebuild for longest time because pandemic, sent money a couple of months ago for repairs.

Right in time for round two with . She's going to FREAK OUT.

Last year - first in a century.

This year - hopefully will dissipate soon as climate not traditionally favorable for cyclones here

BUT

Send all the climate change deniers here to get the cobwebs in their brains blown off.

So mhatari's house got wrecked in

Now, she must travel to village in the middle of the pandemic if she wants to receive govt aid. She's over 70 years old. Which puts her at high risk.

Why can't she apply in Bombay with address proof?

summary.

Bombay people got all excited, only to realize that regular Bombay monsoon gives way heavier rain and winds.

Novelty item crisis turned out phuski bomb compared with dependable yearly calamity.

And those comparing with ... it is called the TRP privilege of Mumbai.

We probably won't get as many damaged trees as West Bengal got destroyed homes.

Though we got double the fear and prayers...

And this, dear friends is why you should look to the science rather than news headlines for information on risks/threats.

Most of you wasted excellent weather on paranoia and prayers. Nice rain, lovely temperature drop.

Had nice nap. Woke up to see what cyclone is doing. Nothing. People on streets not even so much as worried about hair getting tangled :p

Umbrellas in use and safe.

My cyclone became a rainy day when landfall became diveagar instead of Pakghar . Too far away :(

News channel found one fallen tree and two torn hoardings. I guess that's what we will see for another 20 hours.
