Doing a 2D #animation using an image that I've been supplied and trying #Blender instead of my usual choice #AfterEffects. I set up my layers as images on planes, then edited them so that the mesh matched the image content and outlined the alpha, then built an armature. It works really wellโdoing it this way takes a little longer, but the rig you can create in Blender is so much better than anything in AE, even using tools like #DUIK or#Rubberhose.
The only issue I have now is that the render takes way too long. For something with half a dozen layers and puppet pin animation in AE I'd be expecting at least a couple of frames per second, in Blender using Cycles it's taking minutes per frame.
I tried using Eevee, but it doesn't seem to respect the way I have the layers offset slightly, so things in the background render through the top. Are there render settings I can tweak to improve performace, when all I am doing is rendering flat layers?
