I wrote a poem instead of creating an image

An old Kenmore stove,
all rusted and unplugged,
left here for the rewilding
deep inside the grove of trees

the discarded metal remains
of someone's kitchen, and
to think of the trouble it took
to cart it here and dump it here

and the memories it contains

poem with art of a stove

An old Kenmore stove,
all rusted and unplugged,
left here for the rewilding
deep inside the grove of trees

the discarded metal remains
of someone's kitchen, and
to think of the trouble it took
to cart it here and dump it here

and the memories it contains

Oddly, the thing that came to my mind when I started to read the prompt (coffee has not yet kicked in, apparently) was Three French Horns, not three french hens. So I sketched three horns and wrote a quick piece for French Horn.

This the day we often gift our daily newspaper carrier, in thanks for the morning delivery that is often very punctual.

Our Christmas Eve tradition is that all of my children come home (check!) and then my father drives up, and then we go to Christmas Eve service at our church (where my wife in the choir) and the service ends with everyone in a large circle around the pews, holding a lit candle, as we sing Silent Night together with only candlelight flickering.

That video of Feliz Navidad by Walk Off The Earth is so amazing. No idea what I could do except to watch it again.

Then the algorithm presents me Brandi Carlisle's exuberant 2025 version of Fairytale Of New York and now I have Shane McaGowan's rasp in my head mixed with her lovely voice

Ok - I can't replicate Walk Off The Earth but here are a variety of remixes of my own holiday song - Gift Of Peace

Created in the garages of LA’s aerospace and automobile manufacturing workers, and car club mechanics, the hopper is real popular culture, and contrasts with oil baron J. Paul Getty's The Getty Center.

A digital composite image set in the sun-drenched central plaza of the Getty Center in Los Angeles. The background features the museum’s iconic Modernist architecture, characterized by grid-patterned white metal panels, tan travertine stone walls, and a circular building under a deep blue sky. Visitors are scattered throughout the plaza, lounging near a stone fountain and walking across the light-colored pavement.

In the foreground, a vibrant lime-green lowrider "hopper" is edited into the scene, caught mid-jump. The car is tilted at a sharp 45-degree angle, its front end high in the air supported by a hydraulic rig, while its rear bumper scrapes the ground. The car features intricate dark green custom graphics and classic chrome wire wheels.

To the right of the car, two men stand watching the display; one wears a white tank top and khaki shorts, and the other wears a black t-shirt and dark pants. The lighting on the car and the figures differs slightly from the architectural backdrop, revealing the image as a surreal collage that blends elite "high art" institutional space with the energetic, grassroots expression of Chicano automotive culture.

I was stumped on this prompt. But we had visited The Met in NYC this weekend and I saw they have a whole Open Access project underway. I explored that for a bit and grabbed an image for a gif -- Franklin Seeing Stars

I had the idea of a car that uses musical instruments as parts but then got sucked down the rabbit hole for the opposite idea -- Car Part Music, a music project by Bill Milbrodt to use car parts as musical instruments -- "exhaustaphone", "tank bass", "doorimba", "tube flute", and "percarsion." But the project's website won't load (might be too old) and reference links are not all that helpful.

The Isle of Musica was a lost masterpiece of a place, where collaboration fed the souls of Trebles and Basses -- two societies in the north (Treble) and south (Bass) of the island. For generations, the Musicans lived on melody, harmony and creativity. Alas, Machine arrived, and began stealing ideas, slowly winnowing down originality. A pair of Musicans escaped just before the island's collapse, and still work on a composition of musical rebirth.

I took my morning poem and sent it into the N+7 machine, which spit out stanzas of lunacy. Here is one:

N+12

Its lonesome sound
– merely bridge -
made hoof by
the worry of handwritings
on workload

And if I could,
I'd cay that number -
I'd let it float
into the alarm of
a container sleeper
