So, despite reports of ARC staff saying that #DiscoveryProjects #DP25 recommendations were sent to the Minister before 1st Nov., this cannot be true because they do not appear in the #ARCSenateOrder list just published.
Several sources reporting ARC sent DP25 recommendations to the Minister on/before 29 Oct.
If true, recs will be public by 15 Nov, guaranteed by the ARC Senate Order.
Minister has mostly been approving recs within 2 weeks so ARC may announce outcomes earlier.

ARC Board have approved Guidelines for all upcoming schemes.
These aren’t on GrantConnect yet, but they’re already available from the Federal Register of Legislation.
For example, I don’t see major changes to #DiscoveryProjects there (e.g. same assessment category weightings).
How many #DiscoveryProjects peer assessors (a.k.a. detailed assessors) did you receive reports from?
(full applications only, not EOIs)
Rejoinders have opened.

Reviewer reports available tomorrow (7 Aug) for #DP25. Normally ~11am AEST.
Good luck!
But with ~1140 proposals & ~3500 reviews, there'll be some #BadReviewers. Unfortunately, this is where ARC could make real improvements, as summarised in this old 🧵👇

Hi ARC 👋
You’ve asked some #DiscoveryProjects applicants to be detailed assessors (same as previous years).
Some perceive this as a conflict of interest (COI).
Your policies appear to preclude applicants being assessors coz it's a perceived COI ↙️↘️

Peer reviewers should start getting full apps to review today.
Q: Can people who submitted full apps be reviewers?
This used to be the case, but has it changed with the 2-stage process? Only a third as many to review, so there’s an opportunity to change.
ARC has included a bit more information about the assessment of the Expressions of Interest.
In particular, some explanation that there may or may not be some overlap between the 3 College assessors on an EOI and the 2 on the corresponding full app👇
Has anyone managed to get a straight answer from the ARC about whether the two College assessors of a full app will be
(a) definitely the same;
(b) definitely not the same; or
(c) possibly the same
as 2 of the 3 EOI assessors?
🙏
Here's a report on the #DiscoveryProjects Expressions of Interest stage, by Jenny Sinclair for Research Professional News.
TL;DR: Seems OK so far but let's get a proper assessment later.

The problem with trying to assess whether #DiscoveryProjects EOI process was good/bad/better/worse is we don't have proper data.
Here’s a perspective from someone with a different vantage point👇
@arc_gov_au should do proper analysis of scoring disparities vs previous years🤞
ARC has opened full applications for #DiscoveryProjects #DP25.
EOI info is copied across to full app form, without possibility to change it. Good.
I wondered whether EOI 2-page Project Description would be included in full app & available to assessors. DMers report it isn't.
ARC has provided some info about the #DiscoveryProjects EOI shortlisting process ▶️ https://www.arc.gov.au/sites/default/files/2024-04/Discovery%20Projects%20EOI%20-%20Shortlisting%20Explainer.pdf
🔹27.5% success rate – 1141 shortlisted of 4147 EOIs
🔹EOIs with "disparate scores" shortlisted if median score put it above threshold
🔹All EOIs reviewed by 3 assessors

Lead CIs should also get an email their outcomes, but ARC said these might be staggered through the day.
Full apps are due to ARC on 4 June.
