Il Fatto Quotidiano: Negli Usa è virale #SendBarron, l’hashtag con cui gli americani chiedono a Trump di mandare il figlio in guerra
Dopo l’attacco di Stati Uniti e Israele all’Iran, in pochissime ore negli Usa è diventato viralissimo un nuovo hashtag, in particolare su X: #SendBarron. In italiano: manda Barron. Il soggetto in questione è Barron Trump, figlio del presidente degli Usa Donald Trump. L’invito satirico al tycoon è quello di mandare il figlio a combattere con l’esercito americano. Un hashtag nato grazie al sito Draftbarrontrump.com, creato poche ore dopo l’attacco in Iran da Toby Morton, comico ed ex scrittore di South Park, che negli ultimi sei anni si è dedicato alla creazione di siti web satirici che prendono di mira potenti personaggi politici.
“L’America è forte perché i suoi leader sono forti. Il presidente Trump lo dimostra ogni giorno. Naturalmente, suo figlio Barron è più che pronto a difendere il Paese che suo padre comanda con tanta audacia“, si legge aprendo l’homepage del sito. Sotto ci sono tre foto di Barron Trump: due con il padre, una da solo. DraftBarronTrump.com ha anche una breve sezione “Chi siamo” (con immagini del presidente che chiude gli occhi durante i briefing ufficiali) e una serie di false testimonianze. Un post su Instagram di Morton, che ha lanciato il sito il 1° marzo, ha già raccolto circa 60mila Mi piace e circa 1.000 commenti, quasi tutti satirici. Si era anche diffusa una risposta – ovviamente fake – della Casa Bianca alla richiesta: “È troppo alto”.
Tornando all’hashtag, la tendenza nasce appunto immediatamente dopo l’escalation di tensioni e delle crescenti preoccupazioni per le ripercussioni della campagna militare. Mobilitazione social che ha deciso di affidarsi all’ironia e la satira per criticare la guerra e la gestione politica della crisi. Su alcune piattaforme social, soprattutto su X, si sono diffuse in pochissimo tempo immagini satiriche di Barron in tenuta militare generate dall’intelligenza artificiale, unite a richieste più “serie” al presidente Trump affinché si assuma la responsabilità personale della guerra in Iran.

Following the attack by the United States and Israel on Iran, within a few hours a new hashtag, particularly on X, had gone viral in the US: #SendBarron. In Italian: send Barron. The subject in question is Barron Trump, the son of the US president Donald Trump. The satirical invitation to the tycoon is to send his son to fight with the American army. A hashtag born thanks to the Draftbarrontrump.com website, created a few hours after the attack in Iran by Toby Morton, a comedian and former writer for South Park, who has dedicated the last six years to creating satirical websites that target powerful political figures.
“America is strong because its leaders are strong. The President Trump demonstrates this every day. Naturally, his son Barron is more than ready to defend the country his father commands with so much boldness,” reads the homepage of the website. Below there are three photos of Barron Trump: two with his father, one alone. DraftBarronTrump.com also has a brief “About Us” section (with images of the president closing his eyes during official briefings) and a series of fake testimonials. A post on Instagram by Morton, who launched the website on March 1st, has already gathered about 60,000 likes and about 1,000 comments, almost all satirical. There was also a fake response – of course – from the White House to the request: “He’s too tall.”
Returning to the hashtag, the trend emerged immediately after the escalation of tensions and the growing concerns about the repercussions of the military campaign. Social mobilization that decided to rely on irony and satire to criticize the war and the political management of the crisis. On several social platforms, especially on X, satirical images of Barron in military attire generated by artificial intelligence spread very quickly, combined with more “serious” requests to President Trump to take personal responsibility for the war in Iran.
