I love literary greeting cards. This one (from atitagain.ie) flew to me from snowy Ireland.

Die Grafik auf einer Weihnachtskarte zeigt einen Mann am offenen Fenster, der in fallende Schneeflocken schaut. Dazu ein Zitat von James Joyce aus der Erzählung THE DEAD / DIE TOTEN.
The graphic on a Christmas card shows a man at an open window looking out at falling snowflakes. Accompanied by the quote by James Joyce from the story THE DEAD:
"His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the universe and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the living and the dead."

For those of you stressed that #christmas is over, don't be! Christmas only ends when I've finished my annual reread of #JamesJoyce's #Dubliners, and I'm running a little late this season.

I'm on Ivy Day in the Committee Room, and I still have A Mother, Grace, and The Dead to go. Christmas looking like ending mid-week.

Ronnie Drew was born on 16 September 1934 in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin. He was a founder member of the Dubliners from 1962 to 1974. He rejoined in 1979 but then left for good in 1995. Although he was so intimately associated with being a 'Dubliner', he would sometimes say, "I was born and grew up in Dún Laoghaire, and no true Dubliner would accept that at all!"
