Franz Delitzsch, German Lutheran scholar of Hebrew, writes on Job, who stated that he respected the complaints of his servants. He notes the novelty of the situation, that Job fully treated them as equals.

Does an indifference to complaints say something of your doctrine of personhood?

How can you be a little more human to those who serve you?

"'If I despised the cause of my servant and my maid, When they contended with me' [Job 31:13] ...they [the servants] on their part began the dispute ... but he did not then treat them as a despot: they were not accounted as res [things] but persona [people] by him, he allowed them to maintain their personal right in opposition to them."

William Apess, Methodist missionary, part Pequot, relates his message to Indians. He says not to work own crops is evil, but blames rum-sellers. Encourages organizing against white peddlers.

The olden liquor campaigns were more about social justice than spiritual poison. You CAN call for moral purity and justice in the same sentence. Christian missionary journals are a source of incisive records of injustice vs. indigenous.
