More time manipulation in #epistrophy: when the speed becomes infinite, time collapses and everything happens instantaneously. An easy way to skip animations!
Time manipulation in #epistrophy: a fiber can progress at a faster or slower rate than other fibers. In the animated turtle graphics demo, the fiber controlling the turtle can be made to move faster or slower by just changing its rate (the demo UI allows changes between 4 times slower and 4 times faster). Supported rates are only finite values above 0 at the moment, but the transport bar can be used to pause the whole application. Infinite, zero and negative values will be supported later.
More transport bar. One benefit of using logical time and having a scheduler is that you can easily provide ways to manipulate time. In the future the transport bar will have more features, and provide finer-grain control—applying not just to the scheduler as a whole but to select parts of the application. https://hazure.neocities.org/articles/4w06 #epistrophy
I spent a few weeks focusing on describing the timing model and implementation of #epistrophy. The day after I finally publish the main article I find a glaring omission in the model 😅
My last article was about an abstract timing and synchronisation model, this time I am implementing it in JS in the browser and writing about it. RIYL vanilla JS, concurrency, Thelonious Monk, cartoon tomatoes, and 1980’s business men. #epistrophy
Making a transport bar. #epistrophy
I started looking at the pattern for #Epistrophy, the sweater I abandoned in 2019 because dealing with the math to increase the bust size to fit made me sad.
Now, after top surgery, I need to go down a size for the chest instead of increasing by 2 or 3 sizes.
