If Square Enix wants to make a TV show, they should just do that. No need to pretend it's a game and call it "Final Fantasy 16" #ffxvi

I'm really trying with #FFXVI. Almost 30 hours in, but it just feels like a chore.

Waste of a big world: it's empty, no reward for exploration. The story fails to feel epic. No interesting characters. Long, pointless unskippable cutscenes.

Poor design: Why is there a lady whose job is to tell you what's going on in the world? Why is there a guy in charge of a side quests board that is always empty (2 quests so far)?

Also, no choice at all. I'm not against telling a fixed story, if it's an engaging one, which this one is not. And Clive is... unappealing, to say the least. He's just the flat, mighty, brooding guy with the sword and the hair. Boring. The dog is fine, maybe the best character in the game.

This is the first FF I've ever played, because it looked less "cute" than the others. (Why does everything have to be cute?) But is this what FF is? Characters who are meant to look cool and cute getting in spectacular fights to save the world (I guess) in a farfetched, forcibly epic story? Why has it been so popular for so long? I don't get it.
