Been really curious about "Snow Bear" ever since I caught a glimpse of it several months ago. It's an 11-minute animated short, that is basically the independent passion project of former Disney animator Aaron Blaise, and I'm really glad that I got the chance to finally watch it as it's now officially released for free on YouTube after several limited film festival screenings.
The film is entirely hand-drawn in old school style 2D animation, and tells the story of a lonely polar bear who creates a companion out of snow so he has someone like himself to spend time with. It's a tender story with a clear message about climate change, its effect on different species, and the effort that needs to be made in order to prevent the worse. It's also a moving story about loneliness and hope, that ends with an optimistic note, staying true to its "you don't have to be alone" tagline.
