2/2 Most of all, it's silky & surprisingly fresh with a juicy finish. It's on the thinner side, but it's beautifully balanced, a perfect food wine. 12.8% alcohol. $40-ish #wine #fingerlakes #cabernetfranc

This single-vineyard Cab Franc from the Finger Lakes starts with minor green notes. The veggies are more aggressive on the nose, not offputting. Then, it evolves into a controlled, olive flavor profile.

The light and bright demeanor (with a touch of tannin) mostly makes it lively, persistent and most of all--silky & surprisingly fresh with a juicy finish. It's on the thinner side, but it's beautifully balanced, a perfect food wine. 12.8%. $40-ish

For our anniversary in 2019, my wife and I stayed at a B&B in the woods of the region of New York. The last rays of setting sun lit the trees near the cabin with a warm orange glow.

Hype for the Future 104J: Finger Lakes National Forest

Overview Though the State of New York is often better known in the “Upstate” contexts for the wilderness of Adirondack and Catskill Parks, the Finger Lakes region contains the only national forest within the entirety of the State, located exclusively between Seneca Lake to the west and Cayuga Lake to the east within Seneca (north) and Schuyler (south) Counties.

A dry 2014 in great shape. Aging has brought it into good balance, showing off aromatics & fresh fruit, w/ a touch of slate & well integrated acidity.Drinking beautifully. 2016 was the last Jeff's Field. They showed well & this can age more.Seneca Lake. $20s,12.5% alc #wine #fingerlakes #riesling

Riesling ages, and that includes good Finger Lakes Riesling too. This 2014 is Dry, and in great shape. Some aging has brought it into good balance, showing off some aromatics and fresh fruit, with a touch of slate and well integrated acidity. Drinking beautifully today, lotsa life left.

As I recall, the 2016 was the last Jeff's Field, but they showed well. Seneca Lake.

$20s, 12.5% alc

2/2 Pale in color, its elegance and brightness make it easy to like anyway. I loved the juicy finish. The name means "my heartbeat" (or loosely translated, "my darling" in Gaelic). In perfect shape, can likely age more, but there's probably no benefit to doing so. 13.9% alc, $56, #fingerlakes

A specialty bottling (its name means "my heartbeat" or loosely translated, "my darling" in Gaelic), it's in perfect shape today and can likely age more. But there's probably no benefit to doing so.There's little power and it's developed enough.

1/2 This young, Pinot-fanatic Finger Lakes winery revels in Pinot Noirs (& Vinolok glass stoppers). As a statement wine, this maybe falls a bit short, but it has come along well.

Lively and delicate, it emphasizes finesse, but could use a bit more depth and concentration of fruit flavor. Pale in color, its elegance and brightness make it easy to like anyway. I loved the juicy finish.

Mostly Pinot Noir & a healthy chunk of Chard, on lees for 6.5 years. It is a sparkler with a hint of austerity. Even though very dry & crisp, remains perfectly balanced, flourishes with air. Aging great, seems to be in a perfect place, elegant and lively. Mid-$40s, 13%,bone dry #wine #fingerlakes
