@bob Is LibreServer the new name for FreedomBone? I must have missed that. What motivated the name change?

Made some hopefully fun to read Terms of Service to deGooglefy my family on a home server,
"please note access and/or data can be lost, temporarily or permanently, due to network access loss, not paying the bills, hardware failure, broken software updates, misconfiguration, admin mishaps, toddlers, pets, spilled coffee cups, tripping on the plug and other hazards."

Hey @homegrown I've just seen your related project page and I noticed you did not mention #FreedomBone but then I realized its name changed to #LibreServer!
https://libreserver.org/
https://freedombone.net/
Good work! ;-)
@bob
ok. so I spotted a while back you had the out of the box #freedombone units available for sale, have these yet been rebranded for #LibreServer ?? If so, we would appreciate some information regarding becoming a local distributor. @lasalpujarras
Added a few more v3 onion xmpp addresses to the next version of #Freedombone. This is so that if you connect to a clearnet domain which has an onion address then it will use the onion address instead.
This sort of infosec seems quite unfashionable at present. Snowden was a long time ago, and the NGO bandwagon has long since rolled on to other pastures. But I think we are entering a time when it's going to be more important. Here in the UK the government has effectively banned public protests by making it trivially easy to declare any protest illegal (it merely has to cause "annoyance" to someone).
The next version of #Freedombone will use zstd filesystem compression. This should reduce the amount of disk I/O and so help to maintain speed on slow microSD cards, which are usually restricted to USB2 bandwidth at maximum.
@FediFollows @freedomboxfndn @olimex
There is also #freedombone

I'm almost crying here over the work you've done with #epicyon and #freedombone
@bob And what he's describing with the IRC server and the Jabber server and maybe the Indymedia server is basically what the onion version of #Freedombone is. A server that you can run even if you're behind a hostile corporate firewall.
Added blocks for google analytics domains in the next version of #Freedombone. Ordinarily none of the apps should be using Google analytics, so this is a belt and braces approach.
Got CryptPad working again on the next version of #Freedombone
Standardizing on "Go Back" rather than "Cancel" in the web interface. Previously the terminology was mixed. #Freedombone
In the next version of #Freedombone I'm dropping the separate mesh version. The original idea was that it would share the same scripts with the server version, but it didn't work out that way.
A better way to go I think will be to have the server switchable into a mesh mode, or have it do that automatically if it encounters an internet outage for some amount of time. The community networks feature is kind of the beginning of that.
Changed the font for webmail in the next version of #Freedombone, so that it's consistent with the rest of the web admin system.
Added another Code of Conduct item.
No non-consenting research
People contributing to, or maintaining, this project should not be treated as research subjects in academic studies without their prior written consent. If anthropological, security, or other types of research are being conducted upon contributors then they must be made aware of this and formally agree to it taking place.
Publishing software under an AGPL license does not imply consent to become a research subject.
#Freedombone #Epicyon
After much wailing and gnashing of teeth, Crossfire is back in the next version of #Freedombone.
It was initially taken out because of dependency on Python 2, but that appears to have been resolved.
You can also play it on an onion address.

Re-doing the website for the next version of #Freedombone. Originally it was all done with org-mode, which did make things easy. But to obtain certain effects it's easier just to write it directly in html. Yes, you can include html within an org-mode document, but you're really going against the grain of the technology rather than with it.
The permissions thing related to FLoC will get added in the next version of #Freedombone and also to #Epicyon.
It's sadmaking that we have to do this, but it is what it is.
Also, this is another robots.txt. Chrome could just ignore it.
@kzimmermann I'm using a similar model to test #Freedombone installs. Old netbooks can still make good servers.
Have been mostly trying to create #Freedombone images for Debian bullseye on ARM, but so far it has been total failure. It's still too early and the few bullseye ARM images available are unstable.
