I watched ‘WITCHOUSE’ for the #MBMC and it felt like I’ve seen the movie, even though I haven't. It was tropey as hell. Teenagers partying in a haunted house, summon a demon and get picked off one by one. If you’ve seen ‘Night of the Demons’ (among other similar films), you know the story. Low budget, terrible acting, lazy writing. All the hallmarks of a Full Moon flick. It was just stupid fun that kept my attention, but nothing that spectacular.

I watched ‘OBLIVION’ for the #MBMC and it felt like a lost pilot for a show that never aired. Still, there are some nice surprises. Julie Newmar, George Takei and Isaac Hayes lead a hell of a cast. The dialogue is rough, the special effects are even worse and the acting is laughable. That said, it was never boring. If you like space westerns (like Firefly maybe), this one is kinda cool. Oh shit, there's a sequel? WILD.

I watched ‘THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM’ for the #MBMC and the first thing I noticed was how Charles Band tried making this film more high-brow than his usual fare. The production value was a little higher, the lead was a well known actor (Lance Henriksen) and the story stayed kind of close to the original from Poe. That said, it kind of pissed me off because of how historically accurate it was in regards to how evil the church was in those days. 😡

I watched ‘HEAD OF THE FAMILY’ for the #MBMC and it was just as batshit crazy and sleazy as everyone said it would be. Part ‘Beetlejuice’ part ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ but definitely a comedy/horror film, which is hard to nail down. The pacing was really slow, but once it got going it was worth the wait. This is probably one of the better Full Moon films. The practical effects in this are really good too.
The Killer Eye comes to us from David DeCoteau and one of his several pseudonyms. It starts to delve into the stuff he would be best known for in the last 15-20 years. But, it still has a pretty good turn for the lovely Jacqueline Lovell.

I watched ‘VAMPIRE JOURNALS’ for the #MBMC and it worked as a stand-alone vampire story, even if you’ve never seen any of the Subspecies films. It was thoroughly creepy, romantic in a toxic way (like most vampire stories are) and it didn’t hold back on the most common tropes. Sexy young male protagonist? Check. Sexy young damsel in a diaphanous gown admired by an ancient evil? Check. Gratuitous nudity and bloody violence? Check and check. 🩸

I watched ‘THE CREEPS’ for the #MBMC and .. well.. How do I explain this one? If you’ve ever wondered what it would look like if Phil Fondacaro played Dracula, here you go. I mean, I guess I would rather see actual dwarves get these roles, but this almost seems exploitative. The problem with this one is that it takes a LONG time to get going, but when it finally does, the comedy is worth the wait.

I watched ‘GHOULIES’ for the #MBMC and I’m almost 100% sure I saw this one as a kid. There were some moments that were immediately familiar, but I forgot most of it. Overall, I think it was a good monster movie. I still prefer ‘Critters’ but this one has its place in my heart just the same. Yeah, some of the practical effects are a little wonky, but then some are pretty good. It’s technically a horror movie, but who could be scared of them? 😅

'TALES FROM THE GRAVE' (2002) "From forbidden worlds come deadly and chilling tales: 'Beyond Death,' 'Brides of the Dead,' 'Chill Challenge,' 'The Rotten Dead." This is one of those cool anthology films like 'Cat's Eye' or 'Tales from the Darkside.' I'm guessing it was inspired by the latter more than the former.
