But putting the political alignment difficulties aside, this was one of my goals with the Fyre Exyt/ Fire Exit project I dreamed up a few years ago.
To have a narrow group identity that was about maintaining a minimal presence within the DataFarms. Showing people some of the human-respecting software and services they can use instead, and how to get started. Ideally with automated migration tools.

And I just learned about #FyreExyt
In the wake of the huge response to The Social Dilemma, I feel like the time has come to really push forward on Fyre Exyt, a project to create a detailed guide to escaping the datafarms.
I envisioned a page for each datafarm, to describe:
* what data users can export and how
* how to delete your account
* what liberating software / services could be the best replacement for various use cases of the datafarm
It's a big project. Anyone keen to help?
Congratulations @dansup , that's a really important feature for increasing #fediverse adoption. I wonder if #PeerTube has a feature for importing YT channels to PT servers? I'm certainly not aware of a Mastodon feature for importing from the birdsite (yet). #GDPR obliges the #DataFarms to make user data portable. I'd love to see every fediverse app working on a #FyreExyt for every user of datafarms with similar services.
