It's always when the camera isn't rolling that you pull the happy accident print.

Was experimenting with some spray ink on the back of a gel printed tissue paper, and it got wet enough to stick back on the plate, so I guess it wanted to be printed on more substantial paper. 😂

Experimenting: water-soluble oil pastel and dilute gouache on the gelli plate.

Start by rolling out a good layer of clear acrylic gesso, to create a workable surface, but work with a light touch, as it's fragile.

Next time I'd dip the pastels in water so they slide better.

A dozen leaf shapes, in yellow, pale blue, turquoise and spring green, scattered on a page. These rough shapes are overlaid on pastel lines in shades of yellow. The print is pulled with Naples yellow and beige acrylic.
8x10" monoprint on Abaca paper.

The painted gelli plate, still wet. It had to be bone dry before pulling the print with acrylic paint.
Gouache colours are a pthalo turquoise, quinacridone magenta, white, yellow, cobalt blue

Playing with spraying alcohol or water (fine spray or bigger droplets) onto acrylic paint, on the gelli plate. #fun

Tips:
▪ I used heavy body, and first thinned the paint a lot with retarder. Thinning with water wasn't as good.
▪ pickup sheet was raw Xuan rice paper (very absorbent)
▪ remove the pickup sheet after a few seconds, to get all the details. Else it spreads and blurs.
