A recent analysis by Dr. Lee Mordechai, a senior lecturer in the Department of History at the Hebrew University, confirms the reliability of death toll data provided by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in #Gaza, despite challenges in data collection due to the ongoing conflict.

The study refutes claims made by the Henry Jackson Society (#HJS), a British think tank with a history of pro-Israel bias and questionable funding, which attempted to discredit the Ministry's figures.

The analysis highlights that the Ministry's detailed lists, including names, ID numbers, gender, and age, are easily verifiable and have been largely confirmed by Israel, which possesses a copy of Gaza's population registry. While acknowledging minor errors due to the chaotic conditions, the study emphasizes that these are negligible and that the Ministry's data is more reliable than the inconsistent and unsubstantiated figures provided by the Israeli military.

The Israeli occupation army claimed in September to have identified 10,000 militants among the fatalities, yet has released very few names. A #UN report indicates that by the end of April, with 34,000 Palestinian deaths, Israel claimed 13,000 were militants but had only published the names of 75. A #BBC investigation in late February also questioned the army's claims of 10,000 militants killed out of 30,000 Gazan deaths.

Furthermore, the study notes that international media outlets correctly prioritize the Ministry's data due to its transparency and verifiability.
