The Art of Certainty 9/10
Proximity is power.
We rise or fall to the standards of those we surround ourselves with.
Choose peers who raise your bar and expand your vision. 🤝

I've been super motivated to draw lately because of my upcoming art exhibition next January.

I have such high standards for myself it's very hard for me feel proud of my art. Pride comes in waves for me. When I finish an artwork I tend to experience only a brief "that's pretty nice"-moment that wears off fast. I feel most proud of my pictures when I look at them months after finishing them. Seeing my art framed on a gallery wall and witnessing live reactions from other people helps tremendously to shift my perspective into a positive one. That's when I truly appreciate my skills and the images I have created with my own hands. Support and compliments from my loved ones (and strangers too of course) has also boosted my confidence as an artist a lot.

I'd rather be too self critical than oblivious to my faults but sometimes doing art feels like playing a modern FPS game with skill-based matchmaking - every time my skills evolve my standards also raise so fast it's sometimes hard to appreciate my skills.
