A GERMAN journalist detained while taking part in a historic humanitarian mission to Gaza has accused Israeli guards of raping her during custody.
Around 500 people were sailing to Gaza on more than 40 boats as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla in September, when Israel began intercepting the boats and boarding ships to detain activists, journalists, and public figures including Greta Thunberg.
Speaking publicly about it for the first time, journalist Anna Liedtke – who was held for five days – said the assault took place during a strip search while being transferred between Israeli prisons.

Liedtke organises with ZORA, a women’s organization in Germany, which "unites women against war and violence".
"I do not want to talk about it just to put the focus on myself because it is nothing personal, it is nothing individual, and it's nothing that I should be ashamed about," she said in a speech at a ZORA event.
"We were transferred from one prison to another and during the strip searches, I was raped.
