W hotelu w małym miasteczku Smithers, gdzie odbywał się nocny grill, gościły zespoły żandarmów odpowiedzialnych za bezpieczeństwo rurociągu i nękanie jego przeciwników. Pewien filmowiec dokumentalista, który śledził zmagania w okolicy i wielokrotnie miał z nimi do czynienia, dostarczył nawet następującej ciekawostki: “Od miesięcy RCMP (Królewska Policja Konna) spoza miasta przylatuje na ten teren, aby namierzać i nękać obrońców ziemi Wet’suwet’en. Zatrzymują się w tym hotelu i używali tych pojazdów do swoich patroli.”
