I may be getting a little off-theme, but when MLK Jr was assassinated in April 1968, he was in Memphis to support the sanitation workers' strike. That was when he gave his "I Have a Dream" speech.
"Happy Birthday" is Stevie Wonder's song in support of making MLK Jr's birthday a national holiday.
"And we all know everything
That he stood for time will bring
For in peace our hearts will sing
Thanks to Martin Luther King"

Living for the City / Stevie Wonder
"His father works some days for fourteen hours
And you can bet he barely makes a dollar
His mother goes to scrub the floors for many
And you'd best believe, she hardly gets a penny
Living just enough, just enough for the city (Yeah)"

#JukeboxFridayNight marks #MayDay, in part about helping your fellow man.
"Drive on" - Brother Beyond
Are you concerned about the "greenhouse effect"? Do you believe in decarbonisation?
Brother Beyond did in 1989. They earnestly endorsed the green campaign: consume less, use less fossil fuels, and waste less oil on 7-inch slices of black plastic engraved with music.
So successful was the 'Yond's message that this is their last hit single.
#JukeboxFridayNight marks #MayDay, in part about workers' rights.
"A new south Wales" - The Alarm
Mike Peters laments the demise of the coal mines in south Wales. The sound is a simple piano-and-vocal, and the song deliberately taps into the tradition of male voice choirs from south Wales with a gorgeous finish.
Recorded in 1989, a final hurrah for the coal industry. In part a tribute for Mike, who died this week.

#TheFatRat & Laura Brehm - MAYDAY
https://song.link/s/5xXB7wVgRmBHoMBmcfEE3C
"Can you hear, can you hear, can you hear my voice?
Coming through, coming through, coming through the noise
I'm floating through outer space
I'm lost and I can't find a way
Oh, all the lights going dark and my hope's destroyed
Help me, is anybody there?
(Is anybody there? Is anybody there?)
Save me, I'm running out of air, ooh
Calling out mayday"
There is a very large number of versions/covers for "El pueblo unido jamás será vencido". One of the most interesting ones is the 36 variations The People United Will Never Be Defeated! (1975) by Frederic Rzewski.
Allentown - Billy Joel

"El pueblo unido jamás será vencido" (The people united will never be defeated) was created by composer Sergio Ortega and lyrics by folk group Quilapayún (all members of the Chilean Communist Party) in 1973, only months before the coup d'état.
The song is often used by workers' movements around the world.
