My email inbox gets probably about as much junk as anybody's.

But I also use email "funnels"; when asked to give my email address, I often create a unique one, so if I later start seeing junk sent to it, I'll be able to narrow down the source.

Today I got a message to one I had used in 2018 from micha.eagonr.ra2c9@gmail.com with just my first and last name, address, and phone number (all badly formatted, as from poor automation), and an attachment in PDF telling me what a naughty boy I've been and telling me to pay $1950 in bitcoin within one day or the sender would tell the world. It even included a picture from the street in front of my house, but of the house next door. It claimed that the messages had a "special pixel" that would tell the sender that I had read the message, but it didn't.

Don't these little weasels realize that some people would pay good money to receive this kind of verbal abuse?

Though it's not my kink, it all still brought me some amusement.

Okay, what did I do? Why is #junkemail showing up in my inbox? Why isn't Microsoft filtering it as well as usual and sending it all to my junk folder? Did I make someone angry? Did the sorting algorithms go on winter vacation along with the employees at Microsoft who keep inboxes clean? What gives?

I'll be glad when Christmas is over so I can stop getting 63 emails under my Promotions tab.
