L3 autonomous cars coming to street near you soon - in China!

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that Changan Automobile and BAIC were given the go-ahead to build L3 autonomous electric vehicles (EVs) that would allow drivers to be hands off in some circumstances.

The cars, both pure EVs, will be allowed to navigate streets and highways only in designated areas. With L3 drivers are required to be fully alert to ensure that they can intervene under any circumstances.
