Y"all know Kandinsky by now.
This is an interesting painting by him, where instead of just having random shapes, he seems to be trying to do something specific. The four horizontal fields make this look like sheet music, and some of the shapes resemble musical notes and symbols. But others seem to indicate assorted living things, ranging from amoebas to insects to fantasy creatures.
Kandinsky was fascinated with natural history and scientific drawings. Perhaps he's viewing all forms of life as a great piece of music?
No matter what, I find this an extremely colorful and appealing work of art. There's a sense of fun and play here that I don't always see in Kandinsky.
