We’re thrilled to share that we’ve received a Digital Humanities Advancement Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) for Project Ballyhoo, which studies the reach and effect of movie publicity in the 20th century by using computational methods to explore the re-use and circulation of text and images from Hollywood pressbooks throughout newspapers across the United States. The project uses pressbooks from the @mhdl and the Chronicling America collection from the Library of Congress to analyze these artifacts of film history at scale.
