Man whoever made the bumpers on #netv did a good job
Man whoever made the bumpers on #netv did a good job
This looks silly!
Three camera feeds of heavy equipment AND the #NETV livestream all running in a double 1080p stream!
Why?
I was reminded earlier of this lovely writeup that @ernie did for us just before New Ellijay Television launched.
https://tedium.co/2022/10/21/new-ellijay-tv-diy-tv-network/
We're 2.5 years in, and we're on cable, and we're livestreaming 24/7, and we're producing a TON of original television.
I'm really grateful to Ernie for writing this, and I'm excited to talk more about #NETV in the future.
The latest episode of The Hastening, my show about US imperialism, is available now on youtube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqeVueu0lfE
It'll be available on the #NETV peertube account whenever it finishes transcoding, and it'll premier on the NETV cable channel and live stream tomorrow at 9am.
This one is a doozy, in which we explain the concept of Crypto-Imperialism, and talk about the concept in the light of the Donald Trump administration.
If you want to help hasten the death of imperialism, I think you will enjoy the program. If you don't want to enrich google (and I don't want you to enrich google) you'll have to wait a few more minutes to watch it, but be on the lookout for a new video from @video shortly.
The cable network and live stream are powered by ffplayout (recently EOL, so I'll have to figure out what I'm gonna do about that) and our VOD is peertube.
We have a roku app (a fork of peervue) and I'd love to get an android/google TV app together.
See #netv or #NewEllijayTelevision for some more info.
I've been working in the garden today. You'll be able to follow along with my quest to have a Lovely Garden soon on New Ellijay TV. The working title is The Castle Garden, for reasons which will become obvious when you see it. No, I don't live in a castle.
Friday, my good friend Nelson and I are meeting with the same director about a new television show we are co-producing.
The title is still in the works, but the idea is to do a film school, at an hour a week, covering the development, pre-production, production, and post production of a feature film on a pocket change budget.
The director (who I won't name until the deal is inked, but you haven't heard of him unless you're in to AGFA/Vinegar Syndrome releases) has been teaching film courses for a decade, and has been making movies at the prosumer end of the spectrum since the days of super-8. He's still working today, and his latest films are on prime and tubi. I admire the hell out of this man, and I'm really excited to bring his techniques to the masses (if by masses you mean the handful of weird nerds who we have #netv)
Episode 5 of The Open Stage is out now! Tell your friends!
Here's the completed video bumper. It's shorter and simpler than a lot of the ones I've made up to now, but I think it's quite effective.
#netv
All of those and a few others to boot are on #NETV and available for free from a few other sources.
They're fun!
If you're interested in dipping your toes in the water of early skypirate scifi movies, you could do worse (well, no. You really couldn't. Pretty much everything else is lost, so these are both the best and the worst that exists!)
Really, though, what you want to see is Filibus. 1915, cross dressing lesbian (bisexual?) sky pirate heist flick. It's great. I should finish scoring it.
This storyboard looked way better in my head.
#netv
I would show behind the scenes photos of upcoming #netv animation, but it's mostly just an increasingly scruffy man getting pissed off with software.
Some behind the scenes photos of our next television special. This one is about healthcare.
So, Why Sky Pirates?
We're doing #SkyPirates because they're neat, and also because we're working on a bunch of new Sky Pirate stuff for #NETV!
In fact, if everything goes according to plan, we'll be doing a series of (limited animation) cartoon bumpers and shorts featuring an original crew of sky pirates and animated by our very own @reb here in the near future.
Mostly, we were inspired by Filibus which is a 1915 Italian silent film about an apparently bisexual and gender non-conforming airship captain who uses a series of gadgets and disguises to steal valuables and seduce the sister of the detective who is chasing her.

It's a television network and streaming service I operate out of a makerspace in the north GA mountains.
If you've ever wondered if it was possible to host a video server on a $5/month vps (Plus $20/month in block storage) the answer is yes:
it's not as good as #netv or communitymedia.video
It's slow and sometimes it doesn't work and it literally doesn't have enough RAM to exist.
But it *does* work.
How did we get here?
Here's a quick primer from @connor_dylan

@etherdiver If you have a desire to score a silent #SkyPirate or other #PublicDomain action films, @ajroach42 might be looking for more content for #NETV

#SkyPirates on #NETV
😅 I've already seen this one.
