Just checking back - even in #NephMadness 2019 we went straight from screening to localization - we didnโt waste time on confirmatory testing - you donโt waste time either!

EMCrit 370 - Extracorporeal Therapies for Poisoning #ExTRIP #NephMadness
A panel of brilliant nephrologists discuss RRT for the Poisoned Patient.
Modality choice, how to consult, access, hemodynamic stability and so much more!
[#FOAMed]
Excellent thread from Peter Reese on GFR, race, and the recent change in #kidney #transplant listing rules with UNOS

It was really bad before. It still doesnโt fix the big problem - seems like band aid to me - and also why journey to transplant should have won in the #NephMadness first round ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ#BlueRibbonMassiveFail
@Bneuen @Kidney_boy @ChristosArgyrop so you donโt think highly of Sean Barbourโs point that reducing proteinuria with RASi + Flozin = you might miss some patients who may benefit with steroids?
Devices with an early demise as predicted!
Organ pool will match up supportive care as the other finalist....and I suspect will win as it a more uplifting story?
This was was predictable.
Supportive care will be a finalist unless the #BlueRibbonFail is completely rockers
and this is even more hilarious. Finerenone is a solid story, despite @Nephro_Sparks rants. AKI in immune checkpoint inhibitors is cool but we have known that for a few years now...but enough to beat MRAs?
Look at this. Secondary TMA was a bizarre choice in first round....IgA has so much to go - so many trials. Flozins and Sparsentan from the non-IS angle. Why pump up this if you were making it lose to....secondary TMA?
Predict quick loss in next roound
#NephMadness @BlueRibbonFail
the #Filtered4 from #Nephmadness are out
OMG what a #BlueRibbonFail this is. Lower than my most pessimistic expectations. Folly of the supposed wise ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
https://ajkdblog.org/2023/04/05/nephmadness-2023-the-filtered-four/
@captainchloride agreed - I guess this should have been expected!
As Sparky has been ranting in twitter about ๐
I am much more keen on using spiro/eplerenone in DKD with residual risk if I donโt have coverage for Finerenone
Organ pool makes it here - despite knowing the OPO shenanigans in US, the KDPI madness, the eGFR disparities, the preTx workup idiocy
Why? Because a #BlueRibbonfail liked 'xenotransplant' mention? Hello?? Xeno is not happening anytime soon...
sigh
#Nephmadness
Devices in AKI or ESKD....TBH both are unexciting...I predict a quick demise for device in next round
Secondary TMA? What? Did the #BlueRibbonFail even read the scouting report?
I was half joking when I made the secondary pick on FF http://www.nephjc.com/freelyfiltered/57/nephmadness-tma
๐คฆโโ๏ธ #NephMadness
whoah whoah whoah.....non-IS in IgAN...just as all the IS trials are dropping like TESTING, NEFIGARD and more to come?
What do you say @Bneuen and @ChristosArgyrop - team #flozinator or team #immunosuppression?
I think flozins have had their time in the spotlight - time to let IS come ahead?
WTF here though? #Finerenone over good old spironolactone?
New drugs - and a BRP clean sweep! Who would have seen this coming?
same as this one...AKI with ICI could be so many things...hypoMg is a one-trick pony? (clearly physiologically so interesting - I like magnesium since forever)
BRP got this one right as well
sorry pediatricians - the BRP did get this one right
There is so much more to do in both areas...but supportive care is done so poorly...we owe it to people on dialysis to do a better job
