This fire is in initial attack. Firefighters are on the scene of a wildfire burning 6 miles northeast of Nucla and moving northeast. Smoke is visible from Norwood and surrounding communities. It is exhibiting active to extreme fire behavior in Pinion/Juniper and oakbrush fuels. The fire grew from being measured by the Colorado Division of Flre Prevention and Control MultiMission Aircraft at 111 acres at approximately 1:15 p.m., to 164 acres by 3 p.m. By 8 p.m., it was approximately 1750 acres. Nucla Fire, Naturita Fire, Norwood Fire, BLM, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Montrose County Sheriff's Office E, San Miguel Sherriff's deputies and Colorado State Patrol & are on scene with numerous heavy aircraft assisting.
