I picked up some Mexican lace agates before the T started and got them started in grit 1 today. Travel while staying home.

Today's revealed grit 1 magic! The water looked like liquid rust, but some of the rocks were just swoony. In the rinse cycle now, will get them on grit 2 soon.

Three barrels is so much more than one! Starting one barrel with a mix of lapis and more quartzy stuff, the other will be a jasper and agate mix. Third barrel is finishing polish, trying to get a setup that staggers my endorphin hits. Anyone have some recommendations for fun tumbling rocks? Working towards my first collected by me barrel, but in the meantime...

My personal nerd bingo card now has "second rock tumbler, three barrels"

This is the first rock that I have tumbled that I actually found and picked up. I truly don't care if it's nothing significant because I am just delighted with it.

A dark colored rock with overlapping triangles of white and pale green sitting on a dark wood table. No idea what kind of rock except cooooool.

One week into grit 2 and I want to peek at my agates so much but I know they won't be ready until Christmas and so I need to wait and it's like Santa Claus has returned to my life only he's made of rocks. I believe in Troll Santa!

Moved my first official agate batch to grit 2 today. Already have a few favorites including a complete surprise rock that I threw in to fill weight. I am definitely hooked.

Why yes, I did just buy myself another tumbler with two drums so I can tumble three barrels of rocks at the same time. And yes, my wish list for Christmas is rocks and socks.

Some of the results from my first . These are mostly the rocks that came with the tumbler with a few "throw them in and see what happens". How many tumblers are too many?

A variety of mixed polished rocks of many colors including a blue lapis lazuli, some nice golden brown tiger's eye and a very small striped orange, white and brown agate that looks like a wee partial fingerprint. That's my favorite.

It's been a minute since I did a good so I focused on fresh quince. Looks lovely, great color and smells terrific. Deeply needed the pick me up.

Yeah, I want a second tumbler already.

First tumble, first grit, just washed. On to grit two! Deliberately not sorting anything out, to see what happens.

A mixed pile of slightly shiny, multicolored rocks on a off white tea towel. Most of the rocks are shades of brown, with a few blues, purples and reds. Also spots and stripes. I don't know the names yet.

Started another round of first grit in the tumbler, with mixed rockfetti for extra filler. I confess, the idea of rockfetti may be as exciting to me.

I have already bought additional supplies for my rock tumbler, including filler rock. I'm thinking about another tumbler. I think I officially have a new obsession. But don't worry, I am not giving up my

I found myself at 6 am buying Better Grit and eyeing dual canister systems. I am not even a week in to my first tumble. As a baker, I feel like my natural mindset actually works in my favor; time and patience doesn't scare me away, it pulls me in. Plus, a hobby where I can let my hands rest *and* get shiny things? I may be in trouble.

Can't decide if today's will be wood or grapes, so it is probably should be wood and grapes.

Today's is based around vintage dishware I got from my in-laws shed. It's from the Salem China Company in Ohio and the pattern is called Woodhue. They were just there, in The Shed. I love them and use them regularly. I also highly recommend having inlaws with a Shed.

Round, off white plates with a green and brown pattern of 5 leaf branches. So many people look at them and say dude, your plates have weed on them, which says something about the people I know

When I mend my 501 work jeans now, I think I need to dig a mine shaft in my yard to stuff them when I am done so that one day my pants will be a treasure. And then I giggle.

We had some glorious goldfinch (goldfinches? Goldfinchen, heh?) at the feeder yesterday so I feel like today's should be yellow with occasional bird.
