Going to try swapping over our S3 media storage from Wasabi to OVH. There might be some image loading hiccups for the next few minutes.
UPDATE: switch over complete, and things appear to be working smoothly. images that were posted just before the switch might take a few more minutes to finish syncing over.
I've switched PMG over to using a caching proxy to serve media, which will allow us to switch storage providers in the future without the media URLs changing, as well as saving bandwidth costs.
If you're using the web interface, you may need to refresh the page for images load correctly.
The Translate feature has been re-enabled using a locally hosted LibreTranslate server :goose_honk:
Elasticsearch has also been reinstalled and full text search should be working again.
Well, the server migration took 8 hours, but peoplemaking.games is back online and running on much faster hardware! :astro:
There are some features which haven't been re-enabled yet, such as full text search and translation. Those will come back over the next few days, but they shouldn't require any more downtime.
If you notice anything else that isn't working the way you expect, please let me know.
In order to address the performance issues as soon as possible, I'm planning on migrating the peoplemaking.games server to new hardware tomorrow. :astro:
Based on my testing so far, copying the database off the old server is going to take a while, and it will have to be offline during that time, so I expect the server will be offline for approximately 6 hours, starting around the times listed below:
PDT May 28, 18:00
EDT May 28, 21:00
UTC May 29, 01:00
JST May 29, 10:00
Sorry for the extended interruption, but hopefully once this maintenance is complete, things should be a lot more stable and any remaining work should require minimal downtime.
Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll post further updates if there are any changes to the schedule.
Oh okay I see, #PeopleMakingGames is under new management:

Good luck to @brook and hope everything works out!
What's going on with the peoplemaking.games server? A bunch of folks I know have jumped ship over the past week or so, what's the story there
I've started working with @esdin to migrate peoplemaking.games to a new higher performance server, which should address server stability, improve performance, and reduce the cost to operate.
It will take a few days to set things up and migrate carefully, so in the meantime I've made a few configuration tweaks to the current server, which should hopefully smooth things out in the short term. :goose_hacker:
so what's this i read that https://peoplemaking.games is about to shut down?
Testing out Boss attack patterns using the player as a stand-in. This would be a ton of fun to play around with as a player XD
Here's some old #pixelart of mine from a trailer I did a while back for the game #BloodofYamin! Hope you guys like! I plan on posting more! New to Mastodon! Cheers!

Where are the cool #peoplemakinggames hanging out on Mastodon? I need to find some #ttrpg peeps. Launching a Kickstarter (I know, I know) to fund the production of our next game soon and need some advice and help.
@cheosana @AAKL @BleepingComputer @axsharma I can't say any more arguments. You got me on this one. But maybe others can: #PeopleMakingGames #discussion #Roblox #gambling #debate
So far I’ve bought two games from people on my instance. It gives me warm, fuzzy, feelings more so than if I were supporting someone I saw on birdsite, and I think I figured out why. We’re a smaller instance, and it’s more like saying “oh this person on my forum…” rather than just “somebody I follow”. Even if we don’t know each other, we’re in the same group, or neighborhood, so there’s a bit of kinship there, however small.

My latest #gamejam #cyberpunk #indiegame is playable on Itch and Indiexpo 😉
It's a little experiment on making a short narrative driven game with some choices that impact the ending

As folks slowly start spreading this instance to other good game folks, two small asks!
1) Introduce yourselves! Let’s get to know each other ^_^
2) If you have another account on another instance, consider importing your Follows from there! That builds connections with other instances, which means a fuller Federated Timeline, better results when members query hashtags, and opportunities for newer folks to find great people to follow out in the fediverse!
