The man on the right is dressed as if he's partaking in some sort of ceremonial event, sporting white pants and boots along with what appears to be armor plates over his chest that are adorned with a cross design featuring red lines intersecting at various angles. His cape has gold buttons running down its length, suggesting it might have been made from velvet or another rich fabric. The man's jacket is embellished further by the addition of decorative shoulder straps and he holds something in both hands which could possibly be gloves and a ceremonial item such as an orb or scepter but not entirely clear. His expression seems serious with his mouth slightly open, perhaps mid-conversation. In terms of colors, there are muted purples throughout the photo likely due to either artificial lighting at that time period (the late 1940s/early '50s) or an intentional artistic effect by Frissell herself.
