I lifted a bark and then found the smallest #millipede we have in Central Europe:

Polyxenus lagurus (Polyxenida: Polyxenidae)

Size is only 2-3 mm 📏
It seems to use bark beetle tunnels 🤔

A bristle millipede on a rock slab. It looks more like a carpet beetle larva or a caterpillar than a millipede: it is short, covered in tufts of hairy bristles like sprays of tamarack needles, and has a stiff brush of pale shiny hair at the end of its abdomen.

Dozens of bristle millipedes crowded into a crack between an overhanging rock slab and mortar.

in other news, found bristly millipedes (Polyxenida) and snout mites (Bdellidae) on my building's garden wall and was, unfortunately, very weird about it just as neighbours were coming home
