Pride Pictures - 32 Queer Film Festival Karlsruhe

Bereits zum 32. Mal verwandeln die PRIDE PICTURES Karlsruhe in einen Ort queerer Geschichten, Perspektiven und Begegnungen. Acht Tage lang erwartet Besucher*innen ein vielfältiges Programm mit 15 neuen, mutigen und emotionalen Spiel- und Dokumentarfilmen sowie sorgfältig kuratierten Kurzfilmprogrammen.
Das Festival eröffnet mit einer rauschenden Partynacht in der Alten Hackerei und lädt im Laufe der Woche zu intensiven Kinoerlebnissen, Gesprächen und Community-Momenten ein. Ein Höhepunkt ist das Podium im Jungen Staatstheater unter dem Motto Vielfältiges Karlsruhe: queere Kultur, Sichtbarkeit & Freiräume, das die politischen und kulturellen Herausforderungen queerer Kultur in den Blick nimmt.
Besonders im Fokus steht der PRIDE PICTURES PRISM Award, der zum zweiten Mal vergeben wird. Die von der UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe geförderte, mit 1.000 Euro dotierte Auszeichnung wird von einer hochkarätigen Jury (Oska M. Borcherding, Eva Maria Jost, Popo Fan) vergeben und bei der feierlichen Preisverleihung in der Kinemathek überreicht – inklusive Wiederaufführung des Gewinnerfilms.
Darüber hinaus übernimmt Alistair Hudson, wissenschaftlich-künstlerischer Vorstand des ZKM, die Schirmherrschaft und lädt zu queeren Sonderführungen im ZKM ein.

For the 32nd time, PRIDE PICTURES will turn Karlsruhe into a space of queer stories, perspectives, and encounters. Over eight days, audiences can look forward to a diverse program of 15 new, bold, and emotional feature films and documentaries, along with two carefully curated short film programs.
The festival kicks off with a dazzling party night at Alte Hackerei and continues throughout the week with intense cinema experiences, discussions, and community moments. A special highlight is the panel at the Young State Theater under the theme Diverse Karlsruhe: Queer Culture, Visibility & Free Spaces, addressing the political and cultural challenges of queer culture.
At the center of attention is the PRIDE PICTURES PRISM Award, presented for the second time. Supported by the UNESCO City of Media Arts Karlsruhe, the €1,000 prize will be awarded by a distinguished jury (Oska M. Borcherding, Eva Maria Jost, Popo Fan) during the festive award ceremony at the Kinemathek – including a special screening of the winning film.
In addition, Alistair Hudson, Scientific-Artistic Chairman of the ZKM, has taken on the festival’s patronage and will host queer-themed guided tours at the ZKM.

So a week of queer cinema at my local film festival, Pride Picutres, is over. 😢 😢 🏳️🌈 🎥
I saw ~ 10 films and hung out with loads of my local fellow queers. 🥰 🥰
My favourite film was _What A Feeling_, about 2 older women finding each other. It was genuinely funny as a comedy, and (unlike a lot of queer films) had a nice happy ending. 😁 ⚢ ❤️🧡🤍🩷💜 👭 👩❤️💋👩 👩❤️👩
