In the far future, the earth is reduced to an ocean planet with a single small island upon which reside the Lustrous, person-shaped living gems who are essentially immortal.
While most of the 30-odd gems are content to live together and repeat their same tasks for hundreds or thousands of years, Cinnabar is different.
Because of the dangerous metallic mercury it exudes, it has chosen the night watch, an unnecessary, lonely, bitter work that only it can perform.
Holo, a minor wolf goddess of the harvest, drools after apples she sees in Pazzio's market while Lawrence, the roaming merchant she is traveling along side, playfully drones on about the economics of buying and transporting the fruits, amused at his companion's refusal to just ask for some.
Nothing shows that better than this clip of Holo walking the opposite direction in Lawrence's cart. It's just 57 real frames updated every 3rd frame, but subtly delightful!
Homura Akemi and her hair flips. Whenever this stoic magical girl does something she feels is noteworthy she has a tendency to run her hand through her long black hair and flip it out to the side so it settles behind her.
It's probably just a practical gesture. But to anyone watching her outmaneuver the most powerful enemies or make fools out of misbehaving rival magical girls, it probably looks like the most dramatic and condescending taunt ever.

Alone, their abilities are of little use, but together they can correct mistakes, save lives, and, with Sumire's clairvoyance, even alter the fate of their entire town.
In the Puella Magi Madoka Magica tv series we basically never see a real battle between experienced Magical Girls at the heights of their powers. But we do see such in the Rebellion followup movie.
Something once again puts Mami Tomoe and Homura Akemei at odds, and this time they do more than talk sternly at each other. And it is glorious!

When the meddling of rebellious priests threatens the wedding of Livius Orvinus Ifrikia of the Sun Kingdom and Nike Lemercier of the Dukedom of Rain by destroying the ceremonial wedding ring he was to give to her, the two devise a spectacular alternative show of their vows.
Nike uses her supernatural control of the rain to place a larger than life “wedding ring" halo around the noonday sun, impressing all the nobles present thus winning the couple their absolute support.

The cathartic “music video" endings of Girls Band Cry's key episodes are so cool and are a lot of fun to rewatch for how much effort that animation team put into them.
Like, at the end of episode 1, Nina stops Momoka from giving up on her musical dreams and the two play Momoka's most popular song. As they do, the rain pauses in midair and begins to gleam with the nearby night lights.
Then, on the final beat, it all drops at once and the weight of it SHAKES THE CAMERA.
The various named signature attacks employed by the singing superheroine musical magical girls of Symphogear are just another reason I love the show.
Something of a soft hearted More Dakka Tsundere, Chris Yukine’s attacks are always named after rock bands. Giga Zeppelin, Red Hot Blaze, Queen's Inferno, Double For All De Le Metallca, Billion Maiden, and, of course, her standard rocket barrage:

Revue Starlight is such a beautiful #anime. You can pause just about anywhere and use it as a desktop background. Might be why I have 239 and counting from the show and movie! But out of all of them, this twice used victory animation by Karen Aijo is perhaps my absolute favorite frame.
Karen's pose is iconic and cartoony, and the rich background curtain cloth textures, gleaming effects off her sword, and the sharp contrasts of light and shadow are all… dazzling.
On the eve of battle, backlit by a beautiful nebula, Ranka Lee and Alto Saotome share a tender moment of confession and rejection.
