Just a thought. Does Canada need provinces anymore? I'm from Alberta, so take that for what it's worth. Our provincial government blames everyone else for anything wrong, so clearly they don't think they are doing anything about those areas of government. As for the things they take credit for, they're just taking away services from Albertans. They give away our money to private interests who do nothing for the majority except price things out of reach. Therefore they really aren't fulfilling the responsibilities they do have.

So clearly provinces are just a layer of expensive overhead that could be governed by elected regional boards of the various services formerly under control of the provinces. Redraw the lines for these regions since it's time for a shakeup to disrupt the unethical players who game the system.

With the UCP actively kowtowing to American interests, clearly they aren't dedicated to our country. So, get rid of them entirely!

Quoting Yagil Levy on why the West won't intervene in Gaza despite "Right to Protect" norm:

[...] No one in the West would even consider this, as Israel enjoys U.S. protection and is still perceived as part of the West, a segment of the Iron Curtain against the Muslim world, and one worthy of sympathy due to the trauma of October 7th which evokes the memory of the Holocaust. Western nations will continue to watch the starvation, destruction, killing, and displacement, as well as the infants buried in Gaza who also take with them Israel's moral identity.

The "Responsibility to Protect" principle, established by the UN in 2005, mandates international action when governments fail to protect populations from mass atrocities. Despite catastrophic conditions in Gaza with at least 30,000 [?] dead and 2 million displaced—far exceeding the Kosovo crisis that prompted NATO intervention—the West won't intervene.

Unlike Kosovo, where NATO bypassed the UN to prevent ethnic cleansing, the US vetoes moderate UN resolutions on Gaza. Israel enjoys US protection, alliances that prevent international intervention persist, and historical trauma influences global perception.

"Responsibility to Protect" (#R2P) is a global political commitment endorsed by all UN member states in 2005. It asserts that:

1. Every state has the primary duty to protect its population from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing, and crimes against humanity.

2. If a state fails to fulfill this duty, the international community has a responsibility to help protect civilians through peaceful means (e.g., diplomacy, aid).

3. If peaceful measures fail, the UN Security Council may authorize decisive action—including the use of force—as a last resort, to prevent mass atrocities.

Beyond the direct support of some to both warlords now vying for power, amounting to complicity in their crimes, all parties to the #Genocide Convention have a legal - and moral - duty to act in support of targeted groups that no single financial pledge can honour. It is unacceptable that, 30 years after the genocide of the Tutsi, states should again fail to act.

Both Sudanese warlords respond to international pressure however, when and if stakeholders and major powers dare have such a policy. #Iran's failure to obtain a naval base and the decision to let in humanitarian aid through Tina, Renk and flights are proof of that.

It is high time to act on our common #ResponsibilitytoProtect the Sudanese people against the predation of both warlords, as the humanitarian crisis has reached unfathomable proportions and will only worsen through 2024.

Clearly, initiatives led by #Egypt (#Sudan's neighbours), #Djibouti, #Kenya (#IGAD-#UA talks) are not sufficient and have so far failed to bring any tangible result. The latter remains the most credible mediation alternative, and Djibouti should be commended for their efforts to bring Burhan back at the negotiating table. Nevertheless, it is up for the whole world to uphold their #ResponsibilitytoProtect the Sudanese.
