Całość przepełniona jest klimatem z klasycznych filmów Paula Verhoevena i Irvina Kershnera, co potęguję ponowne zatrudnienie znanego z nich Petera Wellera do tytułowej roli. Sami mamy wpływ na to, czy wykreujemy RoboCopa, bezduszny automat bezwzględnie trzymający się litery prawa, czy jednak będziemy pielęgnować wciąż tkwiący w nim pierwiastek Aleksa Murphy'ego i nie pozwolimy mu zapomnieć o empatii, współczuciu i człowieczeństwie. Do tego czeka nas rozwijanie drzewka umiejętności za zdobywane punkty doświadczenia, choć akurat ten element wypada tak sobie - sporo "umiejek" ma niewielkie zastosowanie w grze i szkoda marnować na nie czas. O wiele ciekawiej wypada system bonusów odblokowywanych na kolejnych chipach za pomocą prostej minigry.
RoboCop: Rogue City, podobnie jak wcześniej Terminator: Resistance, nie jest grą wybitną. Nie jest też tytułem AAA rzucającym na kolana oprawą graficzną czy rozbudowanym światem. Ale to rzetelnie wykonana produkcja AA zrobiona z wielkim szacunkiem dla marki i bez przemęczania gracza rozwałkowanym gameplayem. Bardzo mi dziś takich gier brakuje, więc trzymam kciuki za kolejne dzieła Teyonu!
Bardzo podoba mi się pomysł, jaki ma na siebie krakowskie studio Teyon. Puśćmy w niepamięć jego początki pokroju Rambo, ale już Terminator: Resistance sprzed 6 lat zrobił na mnie bardzo pozytywne wrażenie jako gra w sam raz na każdym polu. Bez przedłużania, nadmiernego rozdmuchiwania świata czy przepełniania niepotrzebnymi mechanizmami. Do tego na każdym kroku czuło się, że tworzyli go po prostu pasjonaci materiału wyjściowego. I dokładnie takie same odczucia żywię wobec RoboCop: Rogue City.
Teoretycznie mamy do czynienia z liniowym FPS-em, w którym kierujemy robogliną od misji do misji, eliminując kolejnych przeciwników. Diabeł jednak tkwi w szczegółach. Każda kolejna lokacja to swoisty hub zachęcający do eksploracji wachlarzem pomniejszych aktywności i sidequestów. Oprócz strzelania czeka nas też skanowanie otoczenia, zbieranie dowodów zbrodni, a nawet... wystawianie mandatów obywatelom Detroit. Linia fabularna niby nie jest skomplikowana i raczej nietrudno domyślić się, które punkty będzie odhaczać w dalszej kolejności, jednak w przynajmniej paru momentach nasze decyzje wpłyną na losy innych bohaterów.

RoboCop: Rogue City (Multiplatform, XPd on a Linux PC via Steam)
In an original story set between the 2nd and 3rd movies of the OG series, take on the role of RoboCop and end a crime wave by taking down the "New Guy" in town. TL;DR: Robo fan? Play this.
So right off the bat, this is not a AAA game. There's definitely rough edges here. But that's OK with me, as the things it does do right it does quite well.
Starting with hiring Peter Weller to reprise his role as RoboCop. While it's been .. a while, heh, he does step back into the role rather smoothly. The rest of the voice cast is a bit less polished but for the most part they're fine.
The story is perhaps a bit cookie cutter, but I mean it's a RoboCop game based on the OGs so of course it is. I do like that they give you choices to make tho they, as usual, don't seem to affect the overall game much. Having Robo struggle with his psyche enough he's mandated to talk to a shrink is a nice touch, even if the response options aren't super nuanced.
Gameplay/setting wise, they have pretty much nailed both Old Detroit and the "feel" of RoboCop. From the dirty, crime ridden streets with their amusing graffiti/OCP posters, to the heavy thud of Robo's feet as he walks (which you can turn down in the options, btw). There's more than a few LOL moments, from news stories you read to radio ad broadcasts you can trigger.
I have 22 hours played to complete the story and get 74% of the achievements, which felt like the right amount of time. It ends just before you start to get tired of things like how slow Robo actually is, heh.
Also, it ran well on my Linux PC (7600X/RX6800), locked at 60fps in 1440P. Only thing I noticed was some odd FSR3 ghosting (when I turned around on the streets, the lights reflected on the damp streets mostly), but it wasn't so bad as to be completely distracting.
All in all, this was a fun romp as Robo that I would suggest any fan check out.

I finished RoboCop: Rogue City and I'm glad that this game exists. It doesn't conform to modern conventions and the state of the art and deliberately harkens back to times long past. You also have to accept that it's at best an A-production that doesn't always know how to shine (the frame rate in the last mission is pure hell). If you like the RoboCop movies and their atmosphere, you'll be happy with this game. I was.
RoboCop: Rogue City is odd (I like it). Although it’s 3D in more or less open levels, it often feels like a 2D side-scrolling arcade shooter. There’s not much finesse in terms of movement, just pull the trigger. The whole game feels like a throwback to a bygone era, and I think it’s done well. (Plus, I handed out parking tickets and chased punks away and got the best rating).
I started with RoboCop: Rogue City, which is part of PlayStation Plus. It’s part walking simulator, part police simulator, and part first-person shooter. Peter Weller voices the Tin Man and does a very good job. Other characters are visually based on Nancy Allen and Robert DoQui. The atmosphere is good.

Being a 80’s child of course I’m going to enjoy #RobocopRogueCity and I’m impressed with how faithful it was. I highly recommend doing your duty and cleaning up Old Detroit 🎮🏆
