Patricia Routledge lived a life full of inner growth. What she shared one year before her death about her inner development is amazing. She wrote about 'Keeping up appearances':

" That character taught me to embrace my quirks and quietly healed something deep within me."

Actress Patricia has passed away at the age of 96. We all know her, of course, as Hyacinth – sorry, – from Keeping Up Appearances. But that role came only after a long career in theatre, film, musicals and television. She did everything, from Shakespeare to comedy. Yet theatre, with a live audience, remained her greatest passion. A remarkable woman is gone.

A Clinician's Guide to Neurodivergence; Supporting a Neuro-Affirmative Form of Practice by Sarah Ashworth-Watts, 2025

A concise handbook which provides a comprehensive and accessible overview of a range of conditions to support clinicians working with individuals with diverse neurocognitive profiles.

It provides a practical guide for clinicians to move towards a more neuro-aware and neuro-affirmative way of working. It sets out guidance around diagnosis and access to services whilst giving consideration to the adaptations and accommodations that might be necessary to avoid the inequities that can often be experienced through neuro-normative or heteronormative practices. Topics covered include learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, autism, ADHD, acquired brain injury and various other neurodivergent profiles. The intersection of neurodivergence with factors such as gender and age and comorbidity with mental health and personality profiles is also considered. Drawing on the NICE guidelines, the International Classification of Disease (ICD) system, and the Diagnostical Statistical Manual (DSM), each chapter provides the background to different neuro-cognitive profiles, common indicators that may be observed, screening and diagnostic assessment, clinical recommendations and signposting to relevant resources and services. The handbook is valuable reading for students, researchers, clinicians, therapists, medical and allied professionals who require an introductory text providing in-depth details regarding a range of neurodivergent conditions.

Sex, Drugs, and Death by Tammy L. Anderson, 2012

Explores how youth lifestyles, identity pursuits, behaviors and activities produce a wide range of social problems in contemporary society. The book focuses on the interconnections between three of the most significant youth issues: sexuality, substance use and suicide.

The book pays special attention to the unique pursuits of young people and the locations in which they interact, including virtual places like Facebook and more actual ones such as high school, college, and nightclubs. Patterns among females and males of various class, race, and ethnic backgrounds are also featured prominently in the text as well as how sociologists think about and study them. The goal of this new, unique Series is to offer readable, teachable "thinking frames" on today’s social problems and social issues by leading scholars, all in short sixty page or shorter formats, and available for view on http://routledge.customgateway.com/routledge-social-issues.html. For instructors teaching a wide range of courses in the social sciences, the Routledge Social Issues Collection now offers the best of both worlds: originally written short texts that provide "overviews" to important social issues as well as teachable excerpts from larger works previously published by Routledge and other presses.

Foundations of Naturopathic Nutrition; A Comprehensive Guide to Essential Nutrients and Nutritional Bioactives; Second Edition by Fay Paxton, 2025

The new edition of Foundations of Naturopathic Nutrition provides an essential but detailed guide to the principles of clinical nutrition from a naturopathic perspective.

Fully updated with the latest research evidence, the text begins with an overview of basic physiological principles and the body’s protective systems, such as the antioxidant, detoxification and immune systems. It then moves to an in-depth examination of different food components, including essential nutrients such as protein, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and trace elements, as well as nutritional bioactives, such as alpha-lipoic acid, phytochemicals, digestive enzymes and probiotics. There is detailed information on how each food component is digested and metabolised in the body and guidance on its impact on health. Including summary boxes, case studies and quizzes to help readers consolidate their knowledge, this second edition now includes an ‘evidence box’ which highlights the most recent and clinically relevant research findings on the main nutrients.
There is also a new section on finding and evaluating research, from using search engines to assessing different types of research studies. This accessible and informative text will appeal to all students interested in nutrition from a complementary health perspective.

Climate Change, Population Health and Island States : Socio-Cultural Dimensions
Climate Change, Population Health and Island States by Arnab Chakraborty et al, 2025

This unique collection examines climate change, disasters, and human health in both ‘developed’ and ‘developing’ island nations, highlighting the sociocultural issues in three countries: the UK, Sri Lanka, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

library.oapen.org/handle/20.50

Examining how domestic and international policies often disregard the contributions which can be made by poor and marginalised communities, the book demonstrates how traditional ecological knowledge systems, which once enabled effective adaptation to environmental variability, have been systematically marginalised through processes of modernisation and globalisation. Furthermore, the book argues that the colonial model of prevention and responses should be reconsidered, advocating instead for a more inclusive, collaborative approach to climate-health governance – one that meaningfully incorporates local perspectives while addressing structural vulnerabilities to develop equitable, context-specific solutions for island states facing the escalating challenges of climate change and disaster-related health risks. This critical analysis will be of interest to students, scholars, and policymakers in public health, climate change and sustainability, disaster risk reduction, history, anthropology, sociology, and human geography.

The title appears in bold black text on a white horizontal bar, with the Popular Culture and World Politics series label above it. The Routledge logo is in the lower right corner.

The World Politics of Disco Elysium analyses the distinctive political claims and original arguments on a wide range of international political issues of the highly-acclaimed Marxist video game Disco Elysium (2019), which takes place in a speculative fictional world anchored in a post-Soviet Estonian perspective.

Disco Elysium (2019) has been repeatedly acclaimed as one of the best video games of all time. This detective role-playing game unfolds in a city ruined by a failed communist revolution and occupied by a foreign coalition. Furthering recent work in International Relations and popular culture, this book claims that the ‘cognitive estrangement’ of speculative fiction can produce theoretical and political novelty, beyond merely reflecting existing political dynamics. By placing a metaphor for the Estonian capital Tallinn at the centre of a world, Disco Elysium produces an estranged Estonian perspective on world politics that challenges dominant Anglo-American views of International Relations, while also undermining the opposition between a coherent West and a colonized Rest. #AI #GenerativeAI #AITraining #Microsoft #Routledge: "Authors have expressed their shock after the news that academic publisher Taylor & Francis, which owns Routledge, had sold access to its authors’ research as part of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) partnership with Microsoft—a deal worth almost £8m ($10m) in its first year.

The agreement with Microsoft was included in a trading update by the publisher’s parent company in May this year. However, academics published by the group claim they have not been told about the AI deal, were not given the opportunity to opt out and are receiving no extra payment for the use of their research by the tech company.

The Society of Authors said it is "concerned to see publishers signing deals with tech companies without consulting authors and creators first"."
