#Satisfactory

I can't decide if the part I hate the most about #Satisfactory is trains/drones, or dismantle crates.

Dismantle crates are so fucking annoying.

But drones and trains are so insanely counterintuitive and don't behave at all how they appear they should, and the effort involved with setting them up before you can even discover they aren't working right is insane.

I can't belive I didn't realize this power layout earlier.

When I take screenshots in #Satisfactory, I’ll often find a high place to get a good view of all the buildings I’ve been working on.

It occurred to me that this might give the impression that the game has a top-down view while one places whole buildings down on the map.

Satisfactory is in fact a first-person game, so today I have screenshots from my usual view at ground level as I run about expanding the factory, constructing the buildings block-by-block and panel-by-panel.

Looking west down a pathway with buildings on either side. An orange building on the left bears a sign that reads Copper Sheets. A short building on the right with glass walls and a dark roof advertises Circuit Boards. Rebecca, a ringed gas giant can be seen prominently in the sky. Other buildings with pipes and fluid tanks can be seen further down the road.A view looking east shows the modest building housing the Circuit Board factory on the left and the orange Copper Sheet factory on the right. Waterfalls can be seen flowing from the cliff tops in the background.A lookout tower has exposed stone on its concrete wall providing some decoration for users traversing the stairs. The Red Bamboo forest is in the background.I always come back to the HUB before save and quit. This view through the HUB shows the Space Elevator and the crafting bench.

maybe I’ll play a little satisfactory…then come back to myself 12 hours later mumbling about optimizing. #satisfactory

More #Satisfactory shots. I found a bunch of Somersloops so I built one of those energy augmentor things. Then I set up an “automated manual crafting” setup with a manufacturer, assembler, and a constructor. IYKYK.

Today in #Satisfactory I built a Caterium smelter, a factory that turns copper ingots into copper sheets, and a refinery building which turns waste polymer resin from my diluted fuel facility and turns it into plastic and rubber.

The factory must grow.

Today in #Satisfactory I got jumped in the Red Bamboo Forest by at least four Stingers. I’m not sure because it was dark and it happened really quickly. Either way, the “Days since last incident” counter has now been reset.

Current project is a Pressurised Oil Well with 900 Crude Oil per minute. 30 refineries turn it into Heavy Oil Residue and some Polymer Resin. The resin will be turned into cloth and rubber. The oil residue will go into 24 Blenders to make Diluted Fuel.

This should power many generators.

Today in #Satisfactory I went Hard Drive hunting. On the way back it got dark, so I turned on my headlamp and saw this crazy creature I’d never seen before in the Red Bamboo Forest. It didn’t seem aggressive, so I just went around it and headed back to the HUB. Weird looking thing.

Today in #Satisfactory I moved the HUB to a new building on a cliff top with a view. It’s pretty much at the top of my pit that I’ve been working in lately. I’ve did some interior decorating too!

The new HUB building is perched on a cliff edge. It has been fitted with large viewing windows. A radar tower extends from the top. An aurora fills the sky.The HUB inside its new building with various walkways and crafting stations. The lounge I built underneath the HUB. Ficsit approved motivational posters are on the walls behind some lounge chairs.Corporate advertising has begun appearing in The Pit. A pink sign advertising Space Pop has been placed near the Space Elevator.

Today in #Satisfactory I spent some time optimising my aluminum refineries. I think they’re all running optimally now with lvl 5 belts feeding them. I added more water to the system which now supports the aluminum refineries as well as pure copper and pure iron refineries. While travelling back from the HUB I managed to get a shot of the little cityscape under construction in the pit where the fog was clear enough to make out what is going on down there.
I like putting a big bulk of the factory hidden away in the bottom of a hole where nothing was growing or living there anyway.

The game still makes me pause and look at the scenery. This world, MASSAGE-2 AB(b), is a hand-crafted world, created by one artist at Coffee Stain Studios. The map in Satisfactory is not procedurally generated. Instead each rocky outcrop, each sandy beach, every cave and cliff and boulder, was placed with intention. The whole place looks great.

It’s also huge. It’s not the biggest map in game history, but considering it is hand-crafted, it’s pretty amazing how massive it is.

The building system has absolutely no physics. Anything you build can’t be damaged or destroyed by enemies, or anything except by your will. If you want your factory to float in the sky, you can do that. You can practically build anywhere.

The cityscape under construction in the fog of the pit.A sunrise through an orange haze reveals the factories sprawling through the land.A conveyor belt supported by a raised pathway snakes through the terrain. The view from the ground floor of the coal power station. A ring of 32 coal generators and 12 water extractors floating in the middle of a crater lake.

Be warned. I sat down for a little play session at 11am on Friday. I’m not sure where Friday went, but it’s 3:30am Saturday morning now and I’m going to bed!

Goodnight Fediverse!! 🫶
