Spoiler-free #xmas #movie #review...

Last night my partner and I watched Violent Night (2022) for the third xmas in a row. It's held up well, and is our new favourite xmas movie (dethroning The Ref (1994)). It's basically an action-comedy, but the story is about Santa Claus and a little girl - it's a dyed-in-the-wool xmas movie, not just a movie that happens to be set in December, like some of the ones people argue about "Is <X> a Christmas movie or not?".

It's got a good #cast - the lead, David Harbour, is absolutely fantastic. Beverly D'Angelo is a supporting part, but steals pretty much every scene she's in. John Leguizamo is great as the villain, chewing every last bit of the scenery with gusto. The actress playing young Trudy isn't even annoying, and that's a rare achievement in #Hollywood.

Highly #recommended.
