🎥 What if the actor playing Nosferatu was a real vampire? Shadow of the Vampire (2001) is a chilling meta-horror gem starring Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich. A must-see for vampire and classic film fans! 🩸

I was all set to make 2000's bone-dry horror satire #ShadowOfTheVampire today's #DailyScream, till I discovered movie ain't streaming anywhere. It's even out of print on physical media in the US (though not in the UK). WTF. That's true horror. Anyway, here's my review from back in the day: https://www.flickfilosopher.com/2001/01/shadow-of-the-vampire-review.html
The scene where Orlok talks about the simple logistics of a vampire with no servants making him sad is easily one of the best parts of an underappreciated classic.
@Springaldjack Watch Murnau's movie and then 2000's #ShadowOfTheVampire with John Malkovich and Willem Dafoe.
#WillemDafoe is in talks to reunite with #TheLighthouse director #RobertEggers on his new #Nosferatu film starring #LilyRoseDepp, #BillSkarsgard and #NicholasHoult. Dafoe, however, will not be playing the titular vampire -- he played the role in #ShadowOfTheVampire, earning an Oscar nomination in the process -- he will be played by Skarsgard instead. Dafoe's role is currently unknown. #movies
Watched #ShadowOfTheVampire tonight, one of those "are they a vampire or aren't they?" movies where you're trying to decide if the monster is just 'human nuts' or actually of the Supernatural.
As always with the Vampire story it's as much as the human monsters around Nosferatu that enable, in this case John Malkovich's very John Malkovich film director, on his quest for authenticity.
Willem Dafoe thoroughly enjoys himself as the Undead.
