I wrote a less than 100 line long Python PoC to do some low frequency text processing. Zero external dependencies. Does memory caching to reduce I/O.
The main feedback is that they're worried about it might take too much resources. On a GHz-class 64 bit CPU, with GB-level RAM. Oh, and it will be a burden to maintain too. So we should use big component X instead. Because that's somehow "more efficient".
Software people have officially lost the plot.
