Apologies to #SoloRPGbookclub folks - we've kinda been going through it lately, and the bookclub slid to the wayside. (Also, we accidentally trashed the hard drive of the computer we were keeping bookclub notes on, so we needed to recover those from our backup.)
I think our plan will be to pick it back up with a new game poll starting on the 3rd of November. If anyone wants to nominate games for it, please do.

So I was only tangentially aware of the #SoloRPGbookclub but today I think imma give it a shot. Just bought the game for this session, so have to see what the rules are like and what I'll need, but I've loved pretty much every solo RPG I've played so far so I have high hopes!! :ablobcathyper:
It is decided: the September-October game for the fedi Solo RPG Bookclub will be "Lo/oper" by Nat Twentea (Cecil and Rubin DiRegulus).
In addition to #SoloRPGbookclub as usual, we suggest #LooperTTRPG as a hashtag for the game itself.

Random nomination for the Solo RPG book club: Washed Out Trails by Storythreads (PWYW). It's a story about a failed adventurer turned guard for travelers, trying to survive and preserve enough of a reputation that anyone is willing to put their lives in this adventurer's hands.
Okay, Solo RPG bookclubbers: what game should we play for September-October?
Suggestion for the next #SoloRPGbookclub : Lo/oper, a 1-4 player game (so it has SoloRPG rules) where the player is stuck in a time loop and has to break out.
I got this one in the Solo But Not Alone bundle from March 2023, so it's possible some other folks participating also already own it.
Solo RPG bookclub update: forgot to post the mid-month reminder (and still haven't played Firelights ourselves), but I think the plan is to run the poll for next month's game starting on Tuesday. Feel free to suggest games!
Looking at the Firelights rules for the first time, and this is very crunchy for a one-page game. Just reading it, it's hard for us to imagine how it plays (what does Information do?!), but we can tell it will need a lot (and I mean a lot) of table space. We're probably going to end up on the floor for this one.
Okay! For August/September, the solo RPG bookclub game will be Firelights by René-Pier Deshaies! In addition to our usual #SoloRPGbookclub hashtag, it looks like #Firelights is already the hashtag associated with this game.
This game costs US$6 on itch.io - let us know if that's a hardship and we'll see if we can sort you out.
Edit: If you need a copy of the game, we can provide a Markdown–sorta-compatible plaintext copy of the text of the rules, which was released CC-BY 4.0. It doesn't have the pretty formatting or cover art, but I think you will be able to use it to play the game.
Okay, we gave it a reread and we think it works okay, so here it is: Packbats' Village Witch, part 3: keep vibing.
We were making jokes yesterday about this being the chapter were we reveal all the lore, but it maybe kinda is, actually. Hence the content warning for "capitalism and labor abuses in the videogame industry (past, mentioned)".
Also Maybe is like 75% awake at best for any of this - we hope you'll forgive his awkwardness, here.
Our Village Witch game continues, with our first two card draws of spring - content warnings: food (including meat), hoarding.
On a scheduling level, it was definitely a mistake to be so verbose - these two draws add up to over a thousand words, there's no way we'll be done with our whole story by Monday - but we appreciated the process of writing and I think we're happy with the result. I hope the setting and situation is coming through along with the characters.
Seeing as it might come up next month: anyone have suggestions as to what to do when we have more nominated games waiting to be played than our instance allows poll options?
