I wish Spectrum Cable were on here so I could blast their butts. I finally unpacked their suitcase-sized box with a "new, faster" modem today. After taking the shrinkwrap off, I found that mine was pre-broken. 🤬 The box was the size of a suitcase, & looked perfect when FedEx delivered it. It was also mostly empty space. I'm really glad I don't work for them anymore. We also need *more choices* in ISPs. #SpectrumCable #cableModem #Spectrum #Charter #busted #telcos #cable #ISPs #tech

A freshly unwrapped Spectrum cable modem. The shrinkwrap is at the bottom of the picture. The outside of the modem is black plastic with air holes at top left. At the bottom right, the cable company name, Spectrum, is stamped into the plastic. A semi-circular crack extends from the bottom right corner of the modem, up into the name, and then curves back down to the left, back below the name. The giant box delivered by FedEx containing the new, yet physically broken cable modem (on top of the box). The box is on my coffee table. The box also contained some pieces of paper, 2 small cables shrink-wrapped together, and a power adapter. Below the box on a shelf is the tape measure I used to measure the box before taking out all the stuff. It measured about 2112 cubic inches. I imagine the modem was broken before it was shrink-wrapped, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#SpectrumCable, godblessem, disconnected my account this afternoon, which explains why my modem reconnected and why my browsing redirects to their activation site.

Reason? They said I voluntarily closed my acct. WRONG.

What had happened was that an agent in their storefront fat-fingered a new customer's address and canceled whoever lived there -- me -- and then they realized their mistake and canceled that new acct as well before creating the new one WITHOUT fixing mine.

Jerkoffs. #spectrum

We just got an email from #SpectrumCable -- presumably sent to other customers too -- that they've bumped us up to 400 Mbps (from 300), no charge.

I'm guessing that, on top of the tech just generally getting cheaper to deploy and operate, they're also feeling the heat from #GoogleFiber -- which put cable all down our street earlier this year (after a decade-plus of saying they'd be available here but never specifying exactly where or when, and then becoming available in some parts of town, but no coverage map) and is apparently now laying cable on the main road towards town, so...

....any month/year now... (I'm shivering with anticip.........)

I did a test, and it's actually closer to 500 Mbps -- but, of course, download only. Upload remains at...

...wait for it...

12 Mbps. (Well... 10, but with spikes up to 12.)

I believe Gfiber is up/down symmetrical, so...

Ambiguous much?

I can't tell if I owe them anything or not.

The auto-payment didn't go through yesterday (credit card full), but they might have used a backup method after that. There's no follow-up email to indicate that this happened... and this screen claims that I simultaneously owe $80 due Feb. 26 (yesterday), have a current balance of $0.00, and have a total of $80 (not $160, which would be the case if I hadn't paid this month) due in late March.

Is this a case of deliberately being unclear so they can charge late fees when people think they've paid but haven't?
