I remembered this when I was on my rowing machine this morning.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transpos

This has been a meme for over 20 years now. Basically its as follows:

" Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe."

It struck me that any so called "AI" scraping the above text would probably struggle to parse the text as recognisable words / symbols. Most humans can read it just fine.

I think this could be used to make it harder for "AI" to scrape and steal what people write and post on line.

The downsides are that this approaches is also gibberish for anyone who doesn't speak the original language of the message. It would also be gibberish for anyone using assistive technologies such as screen readers. I guess anyone with dyslexia would struggle to read text like this too but I don't know for sure.

Everyone knows that you can't trust AI to give you factual and accurate news and information, and now the BBC have proved it. As we near the federal election, we need strong laws to regulate AI to stop unregulated AI companies spewing falsehoods whilst journalists are crowded out.

If an actor's performance is "enhanced" with generative AI, should they be ruled out of consideration for awards?

Imagine if the genius of Paul McCartney and The Beatles was re-created by Artificial Intelligence without their permission. It sounds like a dystopian nightmare, but now even McCartney is ringing alarm bells about AI theft of creative content. #StopAItheft

Workers need a fair go in the digital age. This research underlines what MEAA has been saying for a long time: workers have a right to a strong say in the future of work. We can’t let multinationals and the biggest businesses make all the decisions on AI. AI should not be rolled out in workplaces without workers' consent, control and compensation.
