Twitch updated its Hateful Conduct policy. "Starting today, using the term “Zionist” to attack or demean another individual or group of people on the basis of their background or religious belief is against our rules." #StreamerNews #TOSgg

Our Hateful Conduct policy is designed to protect our community from attacks based on a person’s protected characteristics, such as race, nationality, religion, or sexuality. The policy prohibits harmful behaviors, like suggesting that a victim of harm deserved it, or sharing a hateful image or symbol.

The language used to cause harm and spread hate changes over time. To ensure our policies adapt to those changes, we review them and how they're applied to prevent those harms.

As part of our Hateful Conduct policy, we prohibit the use of terms that may not be harmful or abusive in isolation, but can be used as a slur or to denigrate others in certain contexts. In line with that approach, starting today, using the term “Zionist” to attack or demean another individual or group of people on the basis of their background or religious belief is against our rules. We recognize that “Zionist” and “Zionism” also refer to a political movement. Using the term to refer to the political movement, whether in a supportive or critical way, does not violate our Hateful Conduct policy. Our goal isn’t to stifle conversation about or criticism of an institution or ideology, but to prevent coded hate directed at individuals and groups of people. We include examples of the language we prohibit in our enforcement notes here.

We want to make sure that our Hateful Conduct policy continues to be flexible and cover terms that may be used to cause harm to others. We’ll continue to evaluate our policiWe prohibit the use of terms that may not be harmful or abusive in isolation, but can be used as a slur or to denigrate others in certain contexts. Similar to other terms that may be used as a proxy for a protected group, we treat “Zionists” as a proxy for Jews or Israelis if the word is used in a context to promote harm or violence, or when used to make dehumanizing comparisons or perpetuate antisemitic stereotypes. Comments regarding Zionism that are about the political movement, including criticisms, do not violate our Hateful Conduct Policy. Comments that call for violence against Zionism as a political movement, or comments that would otherwise violate our policies, are not allowed.
Prohibited example: Zionist [name of animal].
Allowed example: Zionist settlers keep encroaching Palestinian borders

Amazon IVS introduces Multitrack Video to save input costs
Posted on: Nov 14, 2024
Today we are launching Multitrack Video, a new capability in Amazon Interactive Video Service (Amazon IVS) which can save you up to 75% on live video input costs with standard channels. With Multitrack Video, you send multiple video quality renditions directly from your own device instead of using Amazon IVS for transcoding.

Multitrack Video is supported in OBS Studio. Once you enable Multitrack Video on your IVS channels, your broadcasters can simply check a box in OBS to automatically send an optimal set of video qualities based on their hardware and network capabilities. This enables viewers to watch in the best quality for their connection, while you pay $0.50 an hour for standard channel input compared to $2.00 an hour without Multitrack Video. For more pricing information, visit the Amazon IVS pricing page.

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy has issued a statement that "Hate and harassment have no place on Twitch." #StreamerNews #TOSgg

Hate and harassment have no place on Twitch
To the Twitch Community,

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen members of the community voice concerns about how we handle potentially harmful content. There is no place on Twitch for racism, hatred, or harassment of any kind, including antisemitism and Islamophobia. As our community has grown, we’ve endeavored to build Community Guidelines to prohibit these harms.

Twitch is, and will always be, about belonging. Each day, people come together on our service to build communities around shared interests, and to express themselves authentically. For this to be possible, we work hard to ensure that our community is a safe place.

Our Community Guidelines are foundational, and when we find content that breaks those rules, we take immediate enforcement action. This will always be the case.

Millions of streamers, with a wide variety of views and perspectives, spend time on Twitch. We recognize that some content, while allowed on our service, may be objectionable to some members of our community. The views shared by streamers on Twitch are not the views of Twitch nor are they my personal views.

We’re grateful for the feedback and input from our community. Our safety approach continues to build and evolve, as our service grows. We want to ensure that anyone can find their place on Twitch, and remain committed to ensuring that hate and harassment have no place here.

- Dan Clancy, Twitch CEO

The audience and the streamer are then not interrupted but rather further entertained.”
